Would I vote Steven Seagal for governor? Hell yes I would.
It seems that the next step of greatness is politics. Once you’ve conquered the big screen, won several world championships or become an icon, why not try and change the world, in real life. Arnold Schwarzenegger came to America with $100 dollars in his pocket, pectorals the size of my head and a dream of becoming great. Not only did he become an icon in the bodybuilding world, he became an action star and then, of course, a politician. Since then, the “Kindergarten Cop” star has gone back to say a few more lame one liners and blast away just a few more villains on the big screen. Thank God, because I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t see “The Terminator” in action one more time. WBO boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has dabbled in the world of show business and has also become a congressman in the Philippines. Former professional wrestler Jesse “The Body” Ventura became the governor of Minnesota, and of course who could forget the 40th president of the United States Ronald Reagan, not a combat sports athlete, but started out in show business and ended up in politics, as the President of one of the most powerful countries in the world. Not too shabby Ronnie.

FightMedicine.net would like to welcome Dr. Rick Kattouf, a world-reknowned MMA conditioning specialist. Here Dr. Kattouf introduces us to the science of building our bodies’ engines.
Whether you compete in MMA or you just want to train like an MMA fighter, it is important to properly train your energy systems in order to be in top form. I want you to start to view your body like a car engine and your heart is your tachometer. I am no car mechanic, but I think we would all agree that it would be more challenging pull 600 horsepower out of a 4-cylinder engine as compared to a V-10 or V-12. So, let me show you how to build and then tweak your human engine for maximum horsepower and performance so you can take your fight game and fitness to the next level.

The second installment of the rebooted ‘Star Trek’ movie franchise boldly goes where its predecessors haven’t gone before. Well, not really. This was a Star Trek classic turned on its head and presented with modern flare.
At its core, Into Darkness accomplishes two things. First, it pulls us further into the relationship of the films central protagonists, James Tiberius Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto). Second, it acts as intermediary for numerous plots lines to develop in future films. And all wrapped up in an outlaw’s message: rules they are also made to be broken.
In our continuing effort to create an open and honest conversation about substance testing and performance enhancing drugs, FightMedicine.net sought out Dr. Margaret Goodman, one of the founders of the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA). I came, I saw, I conquered. Fan Expo Canada 2013 is spent and so am I. Today like Friday was rather tranquil. This worked in my favour as I was on a mission. Today being the last day was spent in search of a couple people who had eluded me.
First up was Canadian hockey legend Joe Sakic. I must admit, I was rather giddy when I first saw him. He was in the North building, where all the sports figures and memorabilia were located, signing autographs. I was giddy until I saw the sign indicating a ten dollar fee accompanied a signature and handshake! Not you too Joe!
A disclaimer for anyone going to Fan Expo on the weekend, don’t wear sandals. Get yourself a solid pair of shoes!
The day started off with an interview of WWE wrestler Brodus Clay. Clay was there in promotion of his film No One Lives, released on DVD August 20th. It marked his film debut. What was fantastic about the interview, besides the content, was its location. Conveniently, it was conducted away from the swarms of people. We were in a private room on the basement floor of the adjacent hotel. At the time it didn’t seem like such a privileged location until we left to head to the North building.
It’s Friday night. Besides going out and having a few on the patio, which I did, it also means Fan Expo is half done. Not to fear, the weekend will soon be here. But first let’s wrap up day two.
Ben Affleck is BATMAN! Discuss!
Day one of four at Fan Expo Canada 2013 is in the books. It marked my first ever trip to the annual event, meaning this post is nothing more than a personal reflection of my exploration. The first thing I discovered to correctly respect the experience is both exercise in stamina, patience and a boat load of money!
A preamble so you understand where I’m coming from. I admit I’m not true fan boy but I do enjoy science fiction. Growing up I was a huge Star Wars fan. I lined up with my uncle for the midnight screening of Episode 1: The Phantom Menace opening night and I had the original trilogy gold box set on VHS. If you’re reading this and don’t know what VHS means, take out your internet box thingy and look it up. That said, I was never fully immersed in the culture so day one was a unique experience.

So far in 2013, eOne Films has released several successful movies, including the romantic film “Safe Haven” as well as the action packed films “The Last Stand” and “Snitch.” Coming out later this year from eOne Films are highly anticipated films “The Place Beyond the Pines,” “Catching Fire” and “Now You See Me.” A film from eOne Films that may fly under the radar is an action-thriller from American director Jeff Renfroe titled “The Colony.” Renfroe is a relatively unknown director, but he did co-write the screenplay for the movie, using his vision for the movie to guide it down the right path. Similar to the director, the film stars relative unknown Kevin Zegers (“Wrong Turn”), but has a veteran ensemble cast featuring two actors who have been playing various roles since the 1970s in Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix” Trilogy) and Bill Paxton (“Titanic”).
“The Colony” takes place in a dystopian future where malfunctioning weather stations have brought on the next ice age. Due to harsh weather conditions, survivors are forced to live underground in hopes to preserve humanity and survive at all costs.
Abraham Lincoln is one of the most celebrated and revered people of all time, and as the 16th President of the United States, he dealt with the daunting task of leading a nation divided in ideals, and divided in war. Similarly dealt with the daunting task of bringing this story to life was acclaimed director Steven Spielberg, who volunteered to bring Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” to the silver screen. Delving deeper into how the movie “Lincoln” came to fruition, the DVD has a special feature titled “The Journey to Lincoln” which explains the intricacies of how this brilliant film came together.
2013 will be the biggest and brightest year in Dwayne Johnson’s acting career. Johnson will have five movies, including Snitch, released before the end of the summer, such as blockbusters Fast and Furious 6 alongside Vin Diesel and former MMA star Gina Carano, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation starring Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum. He will also star in Pain and Gain alongside Mark Wahlberg, and Empire State with young stars Emma Roberts and Liam Hemsworth.
Bruce Willis is back as New York Police Detective John McClane in the fifth installment of the Die Hard franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard. Starring alongside Willis is Jai Courtney (Jack Reacher) who plays wayward son John Jr. The New York cop decides to take a “vacation” to Moscow when he learns that his estranged son has come back on the grid after years of silence. McClane and his son escort a political prisoner (Sebastian Koch) to safety from a Russian Mob outfit. The movie twists, turns and double crosses as John McClane and his son must work together to try and save the world.
We have not seen McClane in action since 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, and coming off a similar hiatus is director John Moore (Max Payne, 2008). Moore has directed other action films such as Behind Enemy Lines and Flight of the Phoenix, so he is familiar with the genre.
