Felipe Preguiça is New Copa Podio Heavyweight King

Fans of great jiu-jitsu enjoyed a fantastic night last Saturday (9) thanks to another edition of Copa Podio. A card filled with professionals of the gentle art ensured a jam-packed Botafogo Gymnasium, in Rio de Janeiro, turning it into a veritable arena of great duels.

The Heavyweight Grand Prix brought a close to the third season of Copa Podio. With then title holder Rodolfo Vieira out with an injury, Felipe Preguiça, current middleweight champ, was called on to try his luck among the heavyweights.

Copa Podio Returns with Live Heavyweight GP Stream Saturday

Professional jiu-jitsu is back at the Botafogo Gymnasium, in the Marvelous City, this Saturday (9), with another edition of Copa Podio. The main feature of the night will be the Heavyweight Grand Prix.

The Grand Prix has been divided into two groups of five athletes each, with each match scheduled for 6 minutes in a round-robin tournament (all-fight-all). A win through submission is worth five points, a points win is worth four, a win off of advantage or penalties against counts three, while a draw is worth a single point.

Mackenzie Dern is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and one of the top female grapplers of her generation, being also the daughter of another famous BJJ personality, the legendary “Megaton.” Mackenzie Dern started competing in the adult divisions of Jiu Jitsu tournaments at the age of 14, winning the respect of most BJJ enthusiasts by winning several important trophies as a teenager. Her grappling tuition has been closely followed by her father, and also by Royler Gracie, Letícia Ribeiro and Mackenzie Dern’s boyfriend Augusto Mendes.

Copa Podio Heavyweight GP to Be Streamed Free Online

The next stage of the Copa Podio has been scheduled. On March 9, the Heavyweight GP will once again take place in Rio de Janeiro, at Botafogo Gymnasium.
