Anthem Sports & Entertainment announced on Wednesday evening that they have entered into an agreement to acquire the majority control of TNA Impact Wrestling and as a result have formed Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions, LLC. Ed Nordholm will serve as president of Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions.
The acquisition was expected once the issues with Billy Corgan were settled, which occurred late last year.
The announcement also states that Dixie Carter will step down as Chairman of Impact Ventures and will take a position on the Advisory Board for Fight Media Group, which oversees all of Anthem’s combat sports related brands. Carter will still retain a minority equity stake in TNA Impact Wrestling.
The announcement comes right as Impact begins their week-long television and pay-per-view tapings in Orlando at Universal Studios.
