**Earlier this week, WWE Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer Michelle Wilson spoke at the Variety Entertainment at CES. Wilson was interviewed about the evolution of the WWE Network and stated that downloadable content and offline viewing is “definitely on the road map” for the WWE Network and following in the footsteps of Netflix in offering content to be downloaded. Wilson added that the WWE is planning to expand the network into more countries in 2018 as well.
**The Raw crew has a show in Mobile, Alabama today headlined by Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho advertised as well. The Smackdown crew is in Lafayette, Louisiana at the Cajundome with A.J. Styles vs. John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose advertised for the main event.
**Monday night’s episode of Raw is in New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center with The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels scheduled to appear and they have announced Roman Reigns defending the U.S. title against Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho in a handicap match.
**TNA introduced their new logo at the One Night Only pay-per-view on Friday night. The new logo is a combination of the Anthem Sports and Entertainment logo with a giant blue owl that oversees the “Impact” text.
**Tommy End’s new name in NXT is Aleister Black and worked under the name at Saturday’s event in Ocala, Florida.
**Full Impact Pro has a show tonight on FloSlam at 8pm Eastern from Ybor City, Florida. The show is the first since Gabe Sapolsky was announced as the new booker for FIP and he has stated that the promotion will be taken in a more “wild west” direction and will not be similar to EVOLVE or be aimed at kids. The only match they have announced tonight is a “Get The Contract Fight for All Match” with rules to be announced prior to the match and the participants will be: Jason Kincaid, AR Fox, Sami Callihan, Dezmond Xavier, Jason Cade, Dave Crist, Darby Allin, Austin Theory, Sammy Guevara, Anthony Henry and Teddy Stigma with the winner receiving a FIP title match with champion Fred Yehi on tonight’s show.
**The first WWN Live Style Battle card aired on Saturday night with Dave Crist defeating AR Fox in the finals. The show took place outdoors at it was around 42 degrees outside and the crowd deserves credit for sticking around in the cold and even more for the performers, some of which worked three matches in these conditions. The standout match was a 30:00 draw between Fred Yehi and Anthony Henry and even more impressive given that it was a half-hour match outside in January (even in Florida). We have a full report of the show on the main page.
**The WWE Network will be airing a special preview for the U.K. tournament following Raw on Monday night. The tournament takes place next Saturday and Sunday in Blackpool, England with the shows airing at 3pm Eastern on both days on the network.
**The WWE will be returning to Toronto for a Raw house show on Saturday March 11th with tickets going on sale this Friday at the Ricoh Coliseum.
Ring of Honor:
-The Young Bucks angle with Vanguard 1 aired on this weekend’s television with The Bucks cutting a promo as Vanguard flew into the arena and was superkicked by The Bucks. It will be interesting to see if TNA has The Hardys promote the feud at all at the TNA tapings as Anthem Sports shouldn’t be as opposed to Ring of Honor mentions, given the fact they air Ring of Honor in Canada and it would be wise to have cross promotion and give TNA some buzz, which they very much need at the moment.
-The Decade of Excellence tournament is ongoing with Chris Sabin defeating Colt Cabana and Jay Briscoe defeating BJ Whitmer on the show. Cabana lost after The Boys distracted Cabana and led to Sabin hitting a tornado into a small package for the pin. Alex Shelley was on commentary and he’s very good in the role, which is a positive for Shelley as ROH will be in need of talent to fill the void that Steve Corino and Nigel McGuinness are leaving.
-There was also a Christopher Daniels promo that ran during the show after his win in the Decade of Excellence tournament over Mark Briscoe and Daniels is hands down the most underrated promo in the business, mainly because his promos are always strong and yet he never gets the proper praise. His current role as the aging veteran on his last run is some of the best stuff he has done.
-They switched the main event to a non-title match between Johnny Mundo and The Mack and unlike conventional booking where the challenger beats the champion in the non-title match, it was Mundo who won after a low blow and then beat down The Mack with the help of Jack Evans and PJ Black. The stipulation was that the winner of the non-title match gets to pick the stipulation for the title match, so the champion wins and now has to win again. Mundo chose an “All Night Long Match”, which is match that takes place for the entire duration of the episode.
-The show-closing angle featured Mil Muertes entering the arena and then attacking Vampiro (who is working with Prince Puma).
-The other matches featured Sexy Star defeating Mariposa and The White Rabbit Tribe defeating Drago & Pindar & Vibora. Drago is being held captive by Kobra Moon and her tribe and was sent in to take Moon’s spot in the match, if you aren’t watching the show there are no words I can write to summarize the Drago storyline and his background with Kobra Moon. Vibora is former NXT wrestler Austin Matelson and is getting the big monster run at the moment and will probably break off from The Lizard Tribe down the road for a singles run.
-Next week is the mid-season finale show and then the show goes on hiatus and they have yet to announce when the show returns.
LAW MMA UPDATE
**Mike Goldberg released a statement thanking all of the people that have reached out to him over the past week and reflecting on his time as the voice of the UFC. Goldberg’s final broadcast was last Friday at UFC 207 alongside Joe Rogan and he didn’t make mention of his departure until the closing credits where he did thank a number of colleagues and stated that they would be “friends for life”. The UFC has received criticism for not providing a proper farewell given that Goldberg has been with the company since 1997 and stayed loyal to the company in 2005 when he was given a major offer by the WWE to no-show a Fight Night card in October 2005 and show up on Raw as the replacement for Jim Ross.
**FloCombat was the first to report that light heavyweights Corey Anderson and Jimi Manuwa will fight at the UFC Fight Night event scheduled for March 18th in London, England. Anderson has won four of his last five fights with a split loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua last May at UFC 198 but rebounded with a TKO win over Sean O’Connell last month in Albany, New York. Manuwa is coming off a KO win over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 204 last October in his lone outing for 2016.
