LAW Oct. 13 Update – ROH on iPPV Tonight, Sting Enters HOF

**Ring of Honor returns to iPPV tonight with the Glory By Honor XI event in Mississauga, Ontario at the International Centre and available at at 7:30pm EST. The promotion is doing a 10-15-minute pre show where if you are not happy with the quality of the stream or have issues than you can cancel your order on the spot and will not be charged. I definitely think this show is going to take a big hit from all the bad publicity of the iPPV issues since March and Final Battle will be a better indicator if they can win some fans back for the big show of the year. This is the first show since the creative changes though I don’t expect a major philosophical change to the program as Hunter Johnston was assisting Jim Cornette this entire time the and the two are very much in sync with the others ideas. Here is the card for tonight:
*Kevin Steen Vs Michael Elgin for the ROH Title – they did an angle for the internet yesterday with Steen posting a video demanding various things including the package piledriver being reinstated and getting a new title designed for him or else he will not face Elgin tonight. Hopefully this is all resolved on the pre-show as teasing your main event not happening might not be the best idea for a company desperate for buys
*Jimmy Jacobs & Steve Corino Vs The Briscoe Brothers for the Tag Titles
*Adam Cole Vs Eddie Edwards for the Television Title
*Mike Bennett Vs Mike Mondo
*Davey Richards Vs Jay Lethal
*Roderick Strong Vs Tadarius Thomas
*Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander Vs The Bravado Brothers
*Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team Vs Rhett Titus & B.J. Whitmer

**Dan Lovranski and Wai Ting will be at the show tonight so stop by and say hello and Mouth will have a rundown of the show on The LAW tomorrow night.

**Renee Paquette has finished up with The Score and is heading to the WWE. Her final day with The Score was on Friday and the deal has been in place for about a month.

*TNA is holding their Hall of Fame event tonight with Sting being inducted. At one time Christian (Jay Reso) was scheduled to attend this but that is no longer happening. I’m sure there will be a few surprise guests but Lex Luger is among the confirmed for the event and highlights will be show on tomorrow night’s show.

**The final Impact heading into tomorrow night’s show did a 0.86 on Thursday and averaged 1,120,000 viewers and up slightly from last week’s bottoming out number. They actually had more competition this week with the NFL game, baseball playoffs and the Vice Presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan.

**Chris Charlton and WH Park have a new edition of Japanese Audio Wrestling up on the website chatting the New Japan card from Sumo Hall this past week that both attended live. The show can be downloaded through iTunes or at

**The latest edition of Review-An-Impact with Wai Ting and myself is up at featuring our review of the final show before Bound for Glory with our thoughts, your feedback and a poll of who is watching the show on Sunday.

**The WWE is Jackson, Tennessee tonight and then in Knoxville tomorrow with dual brand shows scheduled. They are trying out CM Punk Vs Ryback at the shows this weekend and see how the two gel together. The WWE put up a poll of who the audience would like to see face Punk at Hell in the Cell and the overwhelming majority was for Ryback over John Cena.

**Here is the full card for tomorrow night’s TNA Bound for Glory event in Phoenix, Arizona at Grand Canyon University:
*Austin Aries Vs Jeff Hardy for the TNA Title
*Bobby Roode Vs James Storm in a Street Fight with King Mo as the special enforcer
*Sting & Bully Ray Vs Aces and 8’s
*Christopher Daniels & Kazarian Vs A.J. Styles & Kurt Angle Vs Hernandez & Chavo Guerrero for the Tag Titles
*Miss Tessmacher Vs Tara for the Knockout’s Title
*Samoa Joe Vs Magnus for the Television Title
*Zema Ion Vs Rob Van Dam for the X Division Title
*Joey Ryan Vs Al Snow

**Sunday night on The LAW Dan Lovranski and Jason Agnew will be recapping the Bound for Glory event after it concludes at Midnight EST on TSN 1050 Toronto and The Team 1410 in Vancouver. We will also be joined by former WWE writer and MLW radio co-host Court Bauer to discuss the Brian Gewirtz story and how influential he was behind the scenes dating back to 1999. Plus Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Title Bout Trivia and your phone calls.

**Next week on Review-A-Wai we are reviewing the new CM Punk Best in the World DVD and we will be joined by Colt Cabana on the program. You can leave feedback iof you have watched the documentary at

**Ring of Honor shot the following angle after the Rahway event last Saturday to write Jim Cornette off of television after Jay Lethal snapped on him:

**JBL issued an apology on Facebook after catching word that Carlos Colon was upset about JBL’s comments during Monday’s broadcast of Raw when JBL stated he owed him money. JBL defended himself saying he is a heel that is trying to entertain and at times uses statements to entertain whether they are true or not and said he is sorry if he offended anyone.

**Following the success of this past week’s iPPV New Japan Pro Wrestling will present another iPPV on November 11th for their Osaka show with the following matches announced for the show:
*Hiroshi Tanahashi Vs Yujiro Takahashi for the IWGP Title
*Shinsuke Nakamura Vs Karl Anderson for the Intercontinental Title
*Kazuchika Okada Vs Hirooki Goto

**This week’s edition of The MMA Report features an interview with Bas Rutten discussing Here Comes The Boom, which is out in theatres everywhere this weekend plus UFC light heavyweight Phil Davis joins the show along with UFC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Seth Kelly and my picks for tonight’s show. The show is available at and on iTunes by subscribing to The MMA Report with John Pollock.

**Tonight is the UFC 153 card from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janiero, Brazil as the company holds their fourth pay-per-view in the country since August 2011. Jason Agnew and I myself will have a live post show immediately after the main event concludes tonight on TSN 1050 Toronto and online here on the website. We will also be joined on the show tonight by Todd Martin from the Sherdog and Wrestling Observer websites. Here is the card for tonight’s event with my own picks in bold:

MAIN CARD (10pm EST on pay-per-view)
*Anderson Silva Vs Stephan Bonnar in a light heavyweight bout
*Glover Teixiera Vs Fabio Maldonado
*Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Vs Dave Herman
*Jon Fitch Vs Erick Silva
*Phil Davis Vs Wagner Prado
*Demian Maia Vs Rick Story

PRELIMINARY CARD (8pm EST on FX and Sportsnet One in Canada)
*Rony Jason Bezerra Vs Sam Sicilia
*Francisco Trinaldo Vs Gleison Tibau
*Diego Brandao Vs Joey Gambino
*Sergio Moraes Vs Renne Forte

*Luiz Cane Vs Chris Camozzi
*Cristiano Marcello Vs Reza Madadi

**Here are the results from the Bellator 76 event held in Windsor, Ontario last night featuring a great main event:
*Shahbulat Shamhalaev over Cody Bollinger by TKO at 4:49 of Round 1 in the quarterfinals of the featherweight tournament
*Mike Richman over Jeremy Spoon by KO at 0:22 of Round 1 in the quarterfinals of the featherweight tournament
*Wagnney Fabiano over Akop Stepanyan by armbar at 3:24 of Round 1 in the quarterfinals of the featherweight tournament
*Rad Martinez over Nazareno Malegarie by unanimous decision (30-27 all) in the quarterfinals of the featherweight tournament
*Eddie Alvarez over Patricky Freire by KO at 4:54 of Round 1 – this was a very exciting fight with both dropping one another before a head kick knocked out Pitbull in the closing seconds of the fight and referee John McCarthy stopped the bout

**Strikeforce has been forced to cancel their second show in a row with the official announcement that the November 3rd card in Oklahoma City has been scrapped. The card was littered with injuries to Frank Mir, Luke Rockhold and most recently Sara McMann that took out their top three fights. Scott Coker stated they were planning to load up their next card in January but lots of fighters were upset with this announcement including Daniel Cormier who found out through the media and reading online that they would not be fighting. Cormier has to be the most frustrated as he’s bound to Strikeforce for one more fight and just wants to get it over with so he can move to the UFC and take some important fights.

**UFC middleweight Jake Shields sent out a statement through his management company announcing that he tested positive for a banned substance following his victory over Ed Herman at UFC 150 in Denver, Colorado. The release noted he will be suspended for six-months but did not list what he tested positive for.

**Igor Araujo from Team Carwin eliminated Nic-Herron Webb from Team Nelson on last night’s edition of TUF. Araujo dominated the first round and two of the judges awarded it a 10-8 but then in the second Webb won the round and worked for a heel hook late in the fight. The judges gave the majority decision to Araujo with one having it even (as did I).

**UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones asked his followers on Twitter who they would like to see him fight next and a few hours later noted he is warming to the idea of fighting Chael Sonnen because of what his fans want even though Jones doesn’t feel he deserves a title shot.
