New Year Dash Report – Return of Major Faction in Big Angle

nyd

New Year Dash is live from Korakuen Hall coming out of Wrestle Kingdom 11.

Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino are on commentary and state that Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega is the best main event they have ever seen live.

KYLE O’REILLY & RICOCHET & DAVID FINLAY VS JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER & TIGER MASK & HENARE

Ricochet landed a Fosbury Flop onto Liger on the floor.

O’Reilly’s left shoulder is taped up to sell the chair shot from the match with Adam Cole at Wrestle Kingdom.

Henare is in with Finlay and applies a Boston crab and won’t release it after kicks from Ricochet.

Finlay hit a rolling fireman’s carry into a Ricochet shooting star press onto Henare for the win.

Winners:
Ricochet (pinned Henare) & David Finlay & Kyle O’Reilly at 6:17

All six shook hands and posed in the ring together.

YUJIRO & HANGMAN PAGE VS BILLY GUNN & YOSHITATSU

Kevin Kelly states that Billy Gunn told him that he felt Okada vs. Omega was better than Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker.

No women accompany Yujiro.

Yujiro kicks Gunn in the face and Gunn stands tall and yells “Fuck you”. Corino added he wants to see Gunn in the G-1.

Yujiro hit the Pimp Juice on Yoshitatsu on the floor.

Page hit the Rite of Passage onto Yoshitatsu for the win.

Winners: Hangman Page (pinned Yoshitatsu) & Yujiro at 6:40

RPG VICE & YOSHI-HASHI VS ADAM COLE & THE YOUNG BUCKS

Corino noted at the start that New Japan World added 10,000 subscribers on the day of Wrestle Kingdom and 55% were from the United States.

Nick scaled to the top and hit a Swanton onto everyone on the floor.

Baretta went for a reverse elbow off the turnbuckle and ended up taking a back stabber from Cole. Baretta’s lower back is taped.

Matt climbed the top and mocked Matt Hardy with the Hardy pose and then missed a leg drop off second turnbuckle.

Baretta reversed and hit a tombstone to Matt after Nick and Cole were yanked off the apron. Cole and Nick returned to double superkick Romero, a Last Shot to Romero and then kicked out after a shining wizard from Nick.

Nick and Cole superkick Yoshi-Hashi, Cole goes for the Last Shot but Yoshi-Hashi reverses into a small package and pins Cole.

Winners: RPG Vice & Yoshi-Hashi (pinned Adam Cole) at 9:59

Cole and The Bucks beat them down after the match, given the match I would expect a future ROH title match for Yoshi-Hashi.

SATOSHI KOJIMA & HIROYOSHI TENZAN & HIRO SAITO & CHEESEBURGER & SCOTT NORTON VS KENNY OMEGA & GUERILLAS OF DESTINY & BAD LUCK FALE & BONE SOLDIER

The theme was The Bullet Club against former members of Team 2000 (and Cheeseburger).

Omega and Norton start, Omega tries to get Norton to join The Bullet Club. Norton shakes his hand but then squeezes it. All the guys took bumps for Norton, who was pretty slow but this audience loved him.

Norton press slammed Cheeseburger to the floor where all of The Bullet Club caught him and tosses him back.

They had the heat on Tenzan, Fale missed a splash and tagged in Kojima. Saito ran in to attack Tonga and stomp him in the corner to save Kojima. Lots of comedy spots from Cheeseburger built around weak offence.

Kojima hit a cutter to Bone Soldier and then Tenzan was in and hit the 3-D. Cheesebugrer and Saito hit sentons to Bone Solider. It ended with Kojima hitting the cozy lariat and pinned Bone Solider.

Winners: Satoshi Kojima (pinned Bone Soldier) & Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Hiro Saito & Cheeseburger & Scott Norton at 9:57

The intermission takes place and then we return.

TETSUYA NAITO & HIROMU TAKAHASHI VS KUSHIDA & MICHAEL ELGIN

Naito is making fun of Elgin’s orbital bone that he broke last year.

Elgin press slams Kushida onto Naito and Takahashi to the floor and Kushida looks to have hurt his arm upon landing but gave a “thumbs up” that he was okay.

Naito hits the running seated dropkick to Elgin and he clutches his eye (that’s how Naito broke it the first time). Takahashi stomps on the eye.

Kushida is tagged in with Takahashi and goes for the Hoverboard Lock and Takahashi quickly gets to the rope. Elgin comes in and fires up on Naito, he blocks a tornado DDT and hits Naito with a falcon arrow for a two-count. Elgin sent Naito into the corner turnbuckle with a German suplex and then drove Takahashi into Naito with a running death valley driver.

Naito took out Elgin’s knee and sent the referee into Kushida delivered a low blow to both Kushida and Elgin.

Dragon Lee shows up and attacks Naito and hits a tope con giro to Takahashi on the floor.

Elgin lifts Naito and hits a Burning Hammer and pins Naito.

Winners: Michael Elgin (pins Tetsuya Naito) & Kushida at 13:45

Dragon Lee places the junior heavyweight title on his shoulder and Elgin lifts up the Intercontinental title so those appear to be our next title matches for each.

Kevin Kelly notes they will be doing English commentary for the New Beginning in Sapporo card on February 5th.

KAZUCHIKA OKADA & HIROOKI GOTO & TOMOHIRO ISHII & TORU YANO & WILL OSPREAY VS KATSUYORI SHIBATA & TOGI MAKABE & TOMOAKI HONMA & YUJI NAGATA & JUICE ROBINSON

Ospreay points to Shibata’s Rev Pro title and says he has something he wants.

Everyone started fighting on the floor with Honma and Yano the only ones left in the ring. Ishii and Makabe fought into the crowd and Ishii drove his head into the wall.

Okada was doing his best Shibata impression with the amount of tape he was wearing.

Honma dead lifts Ishii in the ring and hits a vertical suplex. Makabe was in and exchanged lariats with Ishii. Ishii was bleeding from the nose.

Robinson was in with Okada, he blocked Pulp Friction and hit the belly-to-back neck breaker to Robinson.

Ospreay sends Shibata to the floor and runs at him with a crazy suicide dive into the guardrail.

Robinson lands a big lariat on Goto, he’s taken down by Ospreay and Shibata returns and hits Ospreay with a big boot. Shibata lands the PK on Goto and then Robinson hits Pulp Friction and pins Goto.

Winners: Juice Robinson (pins Hirooki Goto) & Katsuyori Shibata & Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma & Yuji Nagata at 14:57

After the match, Suzuki-gun returned with Lance Archer, Davey Boy Smith Jr. Desperado, Takashi Iizuka, Taichi, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Desperado attacking them and builds to a spot where Minoru Suzuki appears and chokes Kazuchika Okada and hits the Gotch piledriver. Suzuki looks to be the next challenger for Okada for the IWGP title.

Suzuki says they will have all the titles and Suzuki-gun is #1.

This was a great return angle for the group.

SANADA & EVIL & BUSHI VS HIROSHI TANAHASHI & RYUSUKE TAGUCHI & MANABU NAKANISHI FOR THE NEVER SIX-MAN TAG TITLES

Evil attacks Tanahashi’s knee with a chair on the floor as Bushi chokes Taguchi with his shirt. LIJ beats down Taguchi as Nakanishi watches from the apron. Taguchi comes back with a DDT and tags in Tanahashi.

They joked about Tanahashi’s new theme song, Kevin Kelly likes the old one and Corino says he likes the new version.

Nakanishi is in and he goes to suplex Sanada and lands on his feet.

Nakanishi gets Sanada up for the Argentine back breaker but Sanada gets out of it and goes for the Skull End and Tanahashi prevents it and hits the Twist and Shout. Evil pulls Tanahashi off the apron and prevents Nakanishi from tagging him.

Everyone is in the ring, Tanahashi hits a sling blade to Bushi and then a pescado to Evil on the floor. Nakanishi is left with Bushi and lifts him for the Hercules cutter and pins Bushi and they win the NEVER titles.

Winners:
Hiroshi Tanahashi & Manabu Nakanishi (pins Bushi) & Ryusuke Taguchi at 13:24
