LAW March 8 Update - NXT Season 5
John Pollock / March 8, 2011 - 5:46pm
**The March 8th edition of ‘Review a Raw’ is now available for download at http://lawradio.podbean.com/mf/web/s543vp/RAW-MARCH8-2011.mp3. Wai Ting and I review Monday’s edition of ‘Raw’ from Dallas, Texas featuring the return of Steve Austin plus we chat with former WWE developmental talent Dustin Starr, who worked in Florida Championship Wrestling from February – December 2010. If you’re interested in the recruitment process and how the WWE developmental system works and the politics associated then you will want to check out this chat as it’s very informative if you’re an independent talent trying to make it in WWE or TNA.
**Tonight the WWE ‘Smackdown’ and ‘NXT’ television tapings take place in Houston, Texas. There is nothing known about Season 5 of ‘NXT’ and quite honestly I had no clue they were even doing another season until yesterday afternoon. They have not announced any contestants and the show will be hosted by Maryse.
**The WWE confirmed that Sunny (Tammy Sytch) will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 2nd in Atlanta, Georgia. Sytch debuted with the company in mid-1995 and was paired with common law husband Chris Candido as ‘Skip’ and ‘Sunny’. The two got their start working in Smoky Mountain Wrestling before being signed by the WWE and Sunny quickly the standout of the duo and was the first female to be heavily marketed as sex symbol by the WWE in the mid 90’s. She worked with the company until 1998 with her last role being as a manger for the Road Warriors (who are also scheduled to go in this year) and then worked for ECW before heading to WCW in February 2000 along with Candido for a short run.
**If you missed The LAW this past weekend you can download the show at http://lawradio.podbean.com/mf/web/sbdxpm/LAW-MARCH6-2011.mp3 featuring Bruce Hart and a surprise call from his brother Smith Hart as well as tons of plans heading into WrestleMania 27 with Dan Lovranski and Jason Agnew.
**Sunny was the number one searched for topic on Yahoo! today.
**Paul Heyman on Twitter Monday night:
The only thing missing from @steveaustinbsr's return was @JRsBBQ screaming STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD!... but some things are better left for Mania (blatant hint to VKM ... ahem).
**The following matches were announced for ‘Raw’ next week in St. Louis, Missouri:
*Vickie Guerrero Vs Trish Stratus – If Vickie wins she gets a contract with ‘Raw’
*Daniel Bryan Vs Sheamus for the U.S. Title – If Sheamus loses he quits
**Here is the updated lineup for ‘WrestleMania 27’ set for April 3rd in Atlanta, Georgia:
*The Miz Vs John Cena for the WWE Title
*Edge Vs Alberto Del Rio for the World Title
*Triple H Vs The Undertaker
*Jerry Lawler Vs Michael Cole with Steve Austin as the Guest Referee and Jack Swagger in the corner of Cole
*Randy Orton Vs CM Punk
**Here are the dark match results from ‘Raw’ Monday night in Dallas:
*Evan Bourne over Ted DiBiase
*John Cena & Randy Orton over The Miz & CM Punk
**Strikeforce heavyweight Herschel Walker was at the ‘Raw’ TV tapings on Monday night – I think Strikeforce needs to prohibit their talent from going to television tapings.
**The Diva Dirt website reported on Tuesday that Australina woman’s wrestler Tenille Tayla has signed a WWE developmental deal. Tayla is the third graduate of Lance Storm’s Storm Wrestling Academy to sign a developmental deal and has worked for ECCW and SHIMMER.
**Catch TNA performer Brian Kendrick on today’s edition of ‘The Price is Right’, where he gets more screen time than in TNA:
