Bao Quach to Replace Mark Hominick at Affliction II

Ariel Shnerer / January 13, 2009 - 3:59pm

The Fight Network has learned that Team Oyama member Bao Quach (15-8-1) will replace Canadian featherweight sensation Mark "The Machine" Hominick in a bout against L.C. Davis at Affliction: Day of Reckoning on Jan. 24.

Quach, a Shooto and ShoXC veteran, last competed in August on an Icon Sport card where he earned a unanimous decision over Mark Oshiro. Quach is riding a nine-fight winning streak into his Affliction debut. His last defeat was suffered at an APEX event in 2006 against highly regarded WEC competitor and grappling guru Wagnney Fabiano. With ProElite now out of business, Quach could make Affliction his new home with an impressive victory in his promotional debut at "Day of Reckoning."

Davis (12-1), a product of the American Jiu-Jitsu Academy, is on a three-fight winning streak. He made quick work of Billy Kidd at Monte Cox's second Adrenaline MMA event on Dec. 11, submitting the Indianapolis native at 2:52 of the opening stanza. When Davis met the aforementioned Fabiano, he met a similar fate as Quach. Davis suffered his lone conquest via armbar submission in the first round in a bout against Fabiano at the IFL World Grand Prix Finals in December 2007.

While he now prepares for a new opponent, Davis will be wise not to look past the opportunity of a lifetime on Jan. 24. If successful, he could become a 145-pound mainstay in the upstart mixed martial arts promotion and a bout against Hominick, one of Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio's favorite young stars, could come to fruition later this year.

Affliction: Day of Reckoning emanates from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The main event features WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko in his first title defense against former UFC heavyweight titlist Andrei Arlovski.
