LAW July 22 Update - Best and Worst Raw Moments on The LAW
John Pollock / July 22, 2012 - 5:29pm
**Tonight on The LAW Dan ‘The Mouth’ Lovranski and Jason Agnew are getting you set for the 1000th episode of ‘Raw’ and running through the ‘best’ and ‘worst’ moments from the past 999 shows dating back to January of 1993. We will also be asking you for predictions on what will happen tomorrow night, what surprise appearances would you like to see and many more topics. We will also chat with Dave Meltzer of the ‘Wrestling Observer Newsletter’ and the phone lines will be open all night long at 416-870-1050 and toll free long distance at 1-855-591-6876. Tune in tonight at 11pm EST on TSN 1050 Toronto and online here on the website.
**Vince McMahon spoke with The Hollywood Reporter to promote Raw’s 1000th episode. When asked about competition from the UFC McMahon stated that they were show business and UFC is a sport and took a knock at them stating that the UFC’s television numbers are ‘abysmal’ and that they just did 1.3 million buys for WrestleMania (which was the original trending number but the buys look to have fallen short of that initial figure) and that PPV is up 30% since ‘Mania (both Extreme Rules and Over the Limit were up year over year). The full interview is up at http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/vince-mcmahon-wwe-raw-351254.
**The ‘Raw’ crew has a show in Springfield, Missouri today while the ‘Smackdown’ crew is in Omaha, Nebraska and then both crews head to St. Louis for ‘Raw’ tomorrow night.
**Kelly Kelly has tweeted that she will be at ‘Raw’ on Monday night in St. Louis.
**Ring of Honor has announced that they are returning with an iPPV event on August 11th with a card entitled ‘Boiling Point’ from Providence, Rhode Island and will be going head to head that night with the UFC 150 card. The following matches have been announced for the show:
*Kevin Steen Vs Eddie Kingston for the ROH Title
*The Briscoe Brothers Vs Jimmy Jacobs & Steve Corino
*Jay Lethal Vs Tomasso Ciampa
*Michael Elgin Vs Charlie Haas
**Adam Pearce defeated Colt Cabana for the NWA Title in Kansas City last night for Metro Pro Wrestling. This was Match # 4 in their ‘Seven Levels of Hate’ series with Cabana leading the series 3-1 following last night’s result.
**Samoa Joe and Magnus won the GHC Tag Titles earlier today at the Pro Wrestling NOAH card in Tokyo, Japan defeating Jun Akiyama and Akitoshi Saito. TNA and NOAH are working together with Christopher Daniels also being sent over for this current tour but no word on any NOAH talent being sent to TNA in exchange.
**It was on this date in 2001 that the WWE held the most successful non-WrestleMania pay-per-view in their history with the ‘Invasion’ event from Cleveland, Ohio. The card was headlined by Team WWF (Steve Austin & The Undertaker & Kane & Chris Jericho & Kurt Angle) Vs Team Alliance (Diamond Dallas Page & Rhino & The Dudley Boyz & Booker T) and did over 700,000 buys and was the high point of the invasion storyline that summer. Wai Ting and I did review this event on Review a Wai last year and you can download that show at http://fightnetwork.com/data/podcasts/1056/2010-06-06.mp3.
LAW MMA UPDATE

**The following $65,000 bonuses were handed out after the event:
*Fight of the Night – Bryan Caraway Vs Mitch Gagnon
*Knockout of the Night – Ryan Jimmo
*Submission of the Night – Matt Riddle
**At the post fight press conference it was revealed that Tim Boetsch broke his foot in the second round and therefore Dana White could not make any announcements regarding the middleweight title picture or any future fights involving the top contenders at the weight class because of that monkey wrench being thrown into the picture. Dana White was furious about the officiating in particular Josh Rosenthal mistaking Matt Riddle’s body kick with a low blow to Chris Clements and Yves Lavigne not separating Cheick Kongo and Shawn Jordan during their clinch battle for three-rounds. Kongo later spoke with Karyn Bryant from MMA Heat and confirmed he had injuries to both shoulders going into the fight and severely affected his performance.
**Matt Riddle was the highlight of the post fight press conference stating he wants to fight Dan Hardy next (though Hardy is already booked to fight Amir Sadollah on September 29th in Notthingham) and cut an awesome promo on a random British fan that spit at him on his way to the cage for his UFC 105 fight against Nick Osipczak in November 2009 in Birmingham:
