LAW Aug. 14 Update - Raw Rating Drops
John Pollock / August 14, 2012 - 10:40pm
**The ‘Smackdown’ tapings are in Austin, Texas tonight with Alberto Del Rio confronting Booker T and leading to a decision on the World Title Match for this Sunday. All of the talent is coming off this past weekend’s tour of Asia and was the reason so much of the talent was not at ‘Raw’ last night.
**Monday night’s edition of ‘Raw’ did a 2.84 rating over the three hours based on hours of 3,790,000, 4,250,000 and 4,350,000.
**Last night’s edition of Review-A-Raw is up on the site at http://fightnetwork.com/news/32355:podcast-aug.-14-edition-of-review-a-raw/ featuring Wai Ting and I reviewing the show from last night and thoughts going into ‘SummerSlam’ with your feedback to the show.
**Sunday night’s edition of The LAW with Dan Lovranski and Jason Agnew reviewing TNA ‘Hardcore Justice’, my chat with Madison Rayne along with Dave Meltzer is up at http://lawradio.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=shows&action=display&thread=1345 and you can also subscribe on iTunes or listen on the free Stitcher app.
**Ring of Honor has announced that effective this Thursday Dish Network will no longer be carrying any Sinclair stations and the company losing their television. Dish Network and Sinclair are having a major public battle and is the same issue that led to DirecTV dropping Viacom stations earlier this summer.
**Kurt Angle was upset over CM Punk’s comments this past weekend during the Chicago Comic Con panel where he referred to TNA as an ‘indy league’. Angle responded stating:
Punk wants to Say Tna Is An Indy League? I Was On top in Wwe when You Were trying to Get a Job Anywhere. It Was My Choice to go to Tna
If I ever See You Punk, Hide Bitch!
**This week on Review a Wai we will be joined by Harry Smith to chat the WWF ‘SummerSlam’ 1992 card from Wembley Stadium in London, England.
**Harry Smith also confirmed to us that he will be going back to work with New Japan Pro Wrestling with his first date confirmed for September 7th. Smith will team with Minoru Suzuki & TAKA & Lance Hoyt to take on Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Togi Makabe & Yuji Nagata. Smith will also be in Ontario this weekend working shows in Ottawa on Friday night and Barrie, Ontario on Sunday.
**G-1 Climax winner Kazuchika Okada will not challenge for the IWGP Title this fall as is tradition for the tournament winner but rather will receive the title shot on the January 4th show at the Tokyo Dome.
**Here is a real cool story about Angie Barend (the widow of the late Johnny Barend) finding the original WWWF Title belt in their storage space. This was the title that Buddy Rogers dropped to Bruno Sammartino in 1963 and then was replaced with a new title for Sammartino’s first title run.
**TNA has announced the following matches for this Thursday and all three being part of the BFG Series:
*Jeff Hardy Vs Bully Ray (so Ray was either just selling his elbow last night or the injury was not as bad as he feared)
*Samoa Joe Vs Magnus
*A.J. Styles Vs Christopher Daniels
**TNA returns to pay-per-view on September 9th with ‘No Surrender’ from Orlando, Florida.
**WWE developmental talent Tenille Tayla has been given the new name ‘Emma’ while Ashley Fliehr (the daughter of Ric Flair) has been given the name ‘Charlotte’.
**ROH will be taping their television outside of Baltimore with their November 3rd tapings announced for Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania just outside of Pittsburgh.
**This week on ‘The MMA Report’ I will be joined by UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture as well as Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey. That show will be posted the TSN.ca/MMA site and iTunes this Thursday morning.
**The third Olympic athlete to be caught for doping.
