Emanuel Steward Health Update

Boxing fans were likely alarmed earlier today when BoxingScene.com pointed to a report in Le Journal de Quebec that indicated Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward was suffering from cancer.
Steward has been absent from recent HBO broadcasts, citing “health reasons,” and has not been present in the camp of super middleweight contender Adonis Stevenson either.
Most Quebec-based news outlets, such as TVA, picked up on the story as well.
There is a glimmer of hope, however.
The Detroit Free Press has a conflicting report from the overnight edition, with his sister suggesting it was a less severe situation:
"My brother has had problems with a nervous stomach, which turned into diverticulosis," Steward-Jones said. "He had to have some repairs and he is resting and recuperating. He is doing very well."
According to Steward-Jones, Steward will have to take it slow.
"The doctor said he has to rest," she said. "He'll have to cut back on what he takes on, and he's been advised to eat better ... follow a better diet."
"Resting is somewhat alien to him, but he finally sees the wisdom in looking after himself and following doctor's orders to get the rest he so richly deserves," Steward-Jones added. "Emanuel has spent decades taking care of not only the boxing needs of his fighters, but also their housing, transportation, health needs, etc.
"Emanuel always thought of himself as superhuman. His humanness has caught up with him. He told me he can't wait to get back to the gym and his kids, but he just needs to rest before he does that."
Regardless of the ailment, the boxing community as a whole hopes for a speedy recovery by one of its true living treasures.
