LAW Nov. 8 Update - JBL Staying on Smackdown
John Pollock / November 8, 2012 - 4:41pm
**Impact Wrestling is live in Orlando tonight at 8pm EST for the final show before Turning Point this Sunday. Dixie Carter posted on Twitter that Sting and Kurt Angle would take on two members of Aces and 8’s tonight. The show will kick off with Bobby Roode Vs A.J. Styles.
**Review-An-Impact will be up tomorrow afternoon with Wai Ting and I chatting with Nate Milton about tonight’s show, your feedback and looking ahead to the pay-per-view this weekend.
**I was a guest on Figure Four Daily with Bryan Alvarez and Josh Nason today chatting about the UFC on FUEL 6 card this weekend, current season of TUF, UFC 154 with Georges St-Pierre returning, Fight Network in the U.S. and radio shows fuelled by alcohol, really fun time chatting with both so check it out.
**Dutch Mantell will be joining us on The LAW this Sunday night to discuss a benefit show he is putting on for his granddaughter, who passed away tragically this past summer.
**JBL has announced that he is staying on full time as a color commentator on Smackdown and will also fill in on Main Event when The Miz is booked for a match on the show. It is unknown at this time what the Raw broadcast team will be once Jerry Lawler returns with either a two-man booth with Michael Cole or keeping Jim Ross as a three-man team.
**A heads up that I am going to be in Montreal for the entire week leading into UFC 154 next Saturday alongside Wai Ting and we are planning to do all of our scheduled shows from there unless there are any unforeseen problems (ie: getting The Score in our hotel room) and in that case we may go ahead with a non-review show anyway.
**Highspots has reached their goal of $15,000 on Kickstarter to produce a documentary on Tom “Dynamite Kid” Billington and will help fund a trip to Calgary for the production team. They have also hired Davey Richards to be the narrator of the documentary.
**CM Punk will be the Grand Marshall for the Chicago Thanksgiving’s day parade.
**Triple H will be a guest on Craig Carton’s morning show on WFAN in New York tomorrow morning to promote tickets going on sale for WrestleMania 29. Carton is the host of MMA Uncensored Live and co-hosts the WFAN show with former NFL player Boomer Esiason.
LAW MMA UPDATE
**Anderson Silva is going to be at the Bell Centre on November 17th for UFC 154 and likely do some sort of challenge to Georges St-Pierre if he wins that night. I am going to be amused next week when the media brings up the potential fight and the UFC responds by stating no one should overlook Carlos Condit when they are doing just that with this move.
**Spike has begun posting feature videos on Paul Daley, War Machine, Douglas Lima and Ben Saunders on the Spike website at http://www.spike.com/shows/bellator-vote-for-the-fight and the two that receive the most votes will fight each other in January.
**MMA Uncensored Live returns tonight at 11pm EST on Spike TV with Dan Henderson in-studio.
**The weigh-ins for Bellator 80 take place later today in Hollywood, Florida with the following main card lineup:
*Wagnney Fabiano Vs Rad Martinex in the semi-finals of the featherweight tournament (winner to fight Shabulat Shamhalaev)
*Alexander Volkov Vs Vinicius Queiroz in the semi-finals of the heavyweight tournament (winner to fight Richard Hale)
*Owen Evinger Vs Joe Warren
*Darryl Cobb Vs Brett Cooper
**The UFC has added the following fights to the UFC on FOX 6 card on January 26th in Chicago at the United Center with these bouts scheduled for the undercard and not the FOX broadcast:
*Clay Guida Vs Hatsu Hioki (this will be Guida’s featherweight debut and looks like a hell of a fight on paper)
*Mike Russow Vs Shawn Jordan
*Eric Koch Vs Ricardo Lamas (another great featherweight fight and this one was moved to this card from the original plan of putting this on at UFC 155 on December 29th)
**Strikeforce looks to be targeting a January 12th date for their next card and have promised it would be a loaded one with just about every fighter on the roster ready to fight with no shows since August. That would mean between the UFC and Strikeforce there will be cards January 12th, 19th, 26th and February 2nd with four weekends in a row of shows so the pace sure isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The Strikeforce card is scheduled to feature Luke Rockhold defending the Middleweight Title against Lorenz Larkin and Ariel Helwani reports that Nate Marquardt will defend the Welterweight Title on the same card against Tarec Saffiedine.
