SHOWDOWN Fights
Utah's leading cage fighting event is back as SHOWDOWN Fights presents another night of exciting fights in the SHOWDOWN Fights Lightweight Championship. This exciting night will feature a 10-bout card on November 16 from the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah. You won't want to miss it as for the first time in its illustrious history, a champion will be crowned in the cage. Showdown Fights - Lightweight Championship is a stacked card that is highlighted by a main event title fight in the 155 lb division between two veteran MMA fighters. Utah MMA has flown under the radar for over a decade, but after watching this event, it will be hard to ignore the "Beehive State". Jay Adams will round out the commentating team for the upcoming fight event. Adams will join Johnny Ritchie and MMA fighter Tandi Schaeffer to call the action.
The main event will feature a championship fight between Dave Castillo (16-4) from Salt Lake City, Utah and Justin Buchholz (13-7) from Sacramento, California. Both fighters fought previously eliminating the some significant competition as they advanced to the championship bout. In addition to the main event you will see some very exciting MMA fights. In the co-main event, Sean O'Connell (12-4) battles Chris Guillen (13-13) in a light heavyweight fight. O'Connell is a fighter that likes to look for the KO as he possesses power in both hands.
"SHOWDOWN Fights has done it again – this Lightweight Championship fight has all the elements to be a classic. Dave Castillo is a very hungry fighter who has won six out of his last seven fights and he recently avenged an earlier loss to Gordon "Flash" Bell by knocking him out in Showdown's Burkman vs. Yager. His opponent, UFC Veteran Justin Buchholz is up to the task. He has won four out of five of his last fights including a contender for Showdown Fight of the Year in his last battle with Clay Collard on Burkman vs. Yager as well. This fight had to happen - it was inevitable. In Castillo, you have a rising star who feels his time has come vs. Buchholz, a guy battling extremely hard to get back into the UFC. Anything can happen. I can't wait." stated Adams
Below is the fight card for the event:
Dave Castillo vs Justin Buchholz (155 lbs)
