LAW Nov. 23 Update - Ken Shamrock Wrestling This Weekend
John Pollock / November 23, 2012 - 1:54pm
**Here are the matches scheduled for WWE Smackdown tonight at 8pm EST on SyFy and The Score, taped this past Tuesday in Lansing, Michigan:
*Ryback Vs Darren Young
*Antonio Cesaro Vs R-Truth in a non-title match
*Sin Cara Vs Alberto Del Rio
*Big Show Vs Daniel Bryan & Kane
*Kofi Kingston Vs Damien Sandow for the Intercontinental Title
*Randy Orton Vs Dolph Ziggler
**The latest edition of Review-An-Impact is up with Wai Ting and I running down the show and joined by Nate Milton for the entire show. You can download the show at http://fightnetwork.com/news/34854:nov.-23-edition-of-review-an-impact/ or subscribe to Live Audio Wrestling on iTunes.
**This Sunday night on The LAW Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski and Jason Agnew will be taking your phone calls all night at 1-855-591-6876 and locally in Toronto at 416-870-1050. We will be joined in-studio by Arda Ocal from The Score for a round table chat in the second hour and as always Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter will stop by, Title Bout Trivia and more. Tune in Sunday night at Midnight EST on TSN 1050 Toronto, The TEAM 1410 in Vancouver and online here on the website.
**Both the WWE and TNA crews have the weekend off. The Raw crew is in Lafayette, Louisiana on Monday night for the TV tapings and Smackdown will be taped Tuesday night in Bossier City, Louisiana.
**The first preliminary estimate for the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view has it pegged at 200,000 buys worldwide for the show headlined by CM Punk Vs Ryback for the WWE Title. This is up from last year’s number of 182,000 buys.
**Vince McMahon is flying to the Middle East along with R-Truth, The Miz, Eve Torres and Layla to visit with the troops with footage to air on the annual Tribute to the Troops special next month.
**The AAW organization has an interesting show Saturday night in Merrionette Park, Illinois featuring Ken Shamrock in a rare pro wrestling match against Sami Callihan. The show also features Davey Richards Vs Michael Elgin, who had a match of the year candidate this past March at ROH Showdown in the Sun.
**Mick Foley has shot down any rumours he will be having a singles match with CM Punk, which at one time was discussed for the TLC event in Brooklyn. It’s clear from television that is not a direction they are going in nor is it a match I feel would be a wise idea.
**New Japan Pro Wrestling will present the finals of their tag tournament on December 2nd on iPPV on Ustream and runs from Nagoya, Japan. The company has drawn very well on PPV in Japan with their last two shows doing over 50,000 buys within the country but virtually nothing online with less than 1,000 buys for both. They will also run the big January 4th Tokyo Dome show, which should do their biggest numbers to date.
**Here is the updated card for the TNA Final Resolution pay-per-view on December 9th in Orlando:
*Jeff Hardy Vs Bobby Roode for the TNA Title
*A.J. Styles Vs Christopher Daniels
*Tara Vs Mickie James for the Knockout’s Title
**Jason Agnew is hosting Catch 23 tonight, a comedy show involving three groups doing Improv and there is usually always a wrestling element added to the show. The show takes place at Comedy Bar at 945 Bloor Street West is Toronto at 8pm tonight.
**There is no new episode of TUF tonight on FX and then return next Friday with the final two quarterfinal fights including Mike Ricci Vs Michael Hill in the battle for Canada.
**The Score Fighting Series presents a show in Hamilton, Ontario at Hamilton Place Theatre and airing at 10pm EST on AXS TV in the U.S. and here in Canada. Here is the main card fights scheduled for the show and will be called by Michael Schiavello and Robin Black:
*Jordan Mein Vs Forrest Petz
*Jesse Ronson Vs Ryan Healy (the twin brother of Strikeforce fighter Pat Healy)
*Tristan Johnson Vs Will Romero
*Kevin Morin Vs Alex Ricci
*Jason Saggo Vs Iraj Hadin
*Brandt Dewsbery Vs Ryan Dickson
**Invicta FC has announced their next card for January 5th in Kansas City, Missouri headlined by Alexis Davis taking on Shayna Baszler plus Sarah D’Alelio will meet Amanda Nunes on the main card. Tickets for the show go on sale this Monday.
**Paul Lazenby will be appearing on ABC’s Once Upon a Time on December 2nd and 16th.
**UFC bantamweight Nick Denis quietly announced his retirement this week in a blog he wrote citing the concern over head injuries and something he became more aware of following a 2009 knockout at the hands of Marlon Sandro. Denis debuted in the UFC this past January with a quick knockout of Joseph Sandoval with a brutal elbow and then was stopped by fellow Canadian Roland Delorme in one of the most exciting rounds of the year in the UFC.
