Price Destroys Skelton in Two Live on Fight Network

Corey Erdman / November 30, 2012 - 6:14pm

There seems to be a huge demand to see David Price in the ring.

Problem is, he doesn't tend to stay in there very long.

The 29-year old heavyweight prospect made short work of Matt Skelton this afternoon, knockout him out in the second round of a fight aired live on Fight Network.

In the early going, Skelton tried to do what he always does—smother and crowd his opponent. Price looked at least a tad uncomfortable as "The Bedford Bear" mauled him along the ropes. Although the veteran snuck in a few chopping overhand rights, any success he had could be chalked up to pure awkwardness.

By the second round, Price settled the action down and maintained position in the center of the ring. After a big left hook-right hand combination, Skelton showboated to suggest he hadn't been phased by the head shots.

Price tried another approach, and less than a minute later, the fight was over.

With Skelton along the ropes, Price pounded away to the body, punctuating a flurry with a digging left hook to the body. The 45-year old crumbled to the canvas, and by the count of two, his corner had thrown in the towel. Referee Richard James Davies didn't see the towel, but counted Skelton out to 10 anyway.

The official time of the knockout was 2:56 of the second round.

With the win, Price improves to 15-0 with 13 KOs. According to him, his next step may be against former world title challenger Dereck Chisora.

Of note on the undercard, Steve Williams scored a unanimous decision victory over Kirk Goodings for the lightly regarded British Masters light welterweight title.
