Fight Bites For Nov. 30 - Dual Never Say Die Stories

Collin Van Ooyen / November 30, 2012 - 7:45pm

The Double Knockout

Knockout #1 (above) comes by way of 11-7 MMA fighter Felice Herrig. Starting out as a kickboxer, Herrig translated those skills into a muay thai career that brought her to Thailand as a contestant on the reality series “Fight Girls” before transitioning into MMA in 2009.

Knockout #2 comes via this unconventional capoeira-style head kick that looks it could have been used by Hansel or the evil British DJ whilst breakdance fighting in “Zoolander.” (Hansel. He’s so hot right now.)

Dual Never Say Die Stories Of The Day

#1: Everybody hopes for a chance at redemption at some point in their lives. Maybe it was a mistake we’ve made, or somebody we’ve wronged, we’ve all got a few scenarios we’d like to redo. This is the inspiring story of a former boxer turned instructor who used time in prison as fuel to begin walking a new path upon his release. Now he uses his skills to help underprivileged  kids in the same neighbourhood that saw him wind up behind bars.

#2: Martial arts are a tough racket for anyone, but the men and women of the Jersey Disability Martial Arts Group set a whole new bar for inspirational.

Superhero Waiting To Happen Of The Day

This bad guy picked the wrong girl to mess with. In this security camera footage, we see an attempted robbery go downhill fast as a young lady lays a thorough beat down on her attacker. She wasn’t about to let him get away so easy either, dragging him back into the elevator, and ultimately chasing him down, as the hunter becomes the hunted. I’d love to see more footage of their extended chase.

Stuntman Salute Of The Day

Today’s stuntman salute comes from a guy who is a star waiting to happen. Scott Adkins has quietly become one of the most sought after action gurus in Hollywood, having starred in low-budget cult hits like “Ninja” and “Undisputed III,” as well as bigger fare like his recent role as Jean-Claude Van Damme’s right hand in “The Expendables 2.” When looking at his stunt work here on “Wolverine,” you can see why he’s such a hot commodity; the guy has an insane skill level and incredibly crisp execution.

When Wrestling Gets Real

Most fight fans barely raised a people’s eyebrow when former WWE champion Dave Bautista made his MMA debut earlier his year. He may have looked like a total scrub inside the cage, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t still an experienced martial artist. In this demo vid, we see the man once known simply as “Batista” displaying his Kali knife fighting skills against martial arts actor Marrese Crump.

Kid That Could Kick Your Ass Of The Day

In what is quickly becoming my favorite segment of this page, we see an adorable four-year-old kid display some dazzlingly sharp Choy Lay Fut forms in front of some seemingly underwhelmed chain smokers on a Chinese street.

If you've got a funny, obscure, bizarre, or just plain crazy martial arts story or video that you'd like showcased on Fight Bites, send your submissions via e-mail to Collin@fightnetwork.com, or Tweet @fightnet with the hash tag #FightBites
