TKD Canada Announces New Coach

Canada's national taekwondo program has a familiar face taking on a leadership role. Master Shin Lim was recently appointed as national coach with Canada's High Performance Program, and brings a lot of experience to the table. A 30-year veteran of the sport, Lim has represented Canada multiple times as a member of the national team and boasts three national championships. Along with his winning pedigree, his selection was largely influenced by his efforts as the founder of the HPAC program, which focuses on the extensive training of coaches and athletes nationwide to help in the long-term development of the sport. Now in his first week on the job, Lim said of his appointment, "Canada has tremendous potential to be a top taekwondo nation and I am looking forward to working with coaches and athletes on a regular basis to support their development towards reaching their full potential in taekwondo on the international stage."

NCAA Wrestling Quick Hits

According to University of Northern Iowa head coach Doug Schwab, junior wrestler Joe Colon has been dismissed from the UNI roster for not fulfilling his social and academic requirements as a student-athlete. Colon was suspended earlier in the semester for not meeting those obligations. "Joe failed to honor the conditions he agreed to in order to be eligible for reinstatement as a student-athlete," said Coach Schwab. "If that happens, we would welcome Joe back for his senior season."

Lehigh University traveled to the University of Iowa only to get beaten handily in a dual meet. Iowa took seven out of ten total matches by a final score of 26-9. The day was highlighted by an opening matchup that saw Matt McDonough of Iowa quickly on a pair of first-round pinfalls. Tony Ramos and Mark Ballweg followed that up with back-to-back major decisions that built an early 14-0 lead that Iowa would never relinquish. The win marked Iowa's 200th inside of their massive home, the 15,000+ seat Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Wrestling legend Dan Gable is making himself the prize in a brand new online charity auction called "The Dan Gable Experience. Fans will bid on a chance to meet the iconic Iowan with all proceeds going to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum, a not-for-profit organization based on stimulating the growth of the sport. The auction will go down on February 3rd during the dual meet between the University of Iowa and Penn State, the two universities that have combined for the last five NCAA national championships.

Kung Fu Expert Beats Up Angry Mob

In what resembles the plot of a kung fu movie, a Chinese kung fu expert is being accused of fending off around "30-50 men." 38-year-old Shen Jianzhong claims that he had been the victim of mob bullying for months leading up to the incident. People in his neighbourhood were being forced to sell their properties to make way for a mob-funded development, but Shen held out from signing off on it. Finally, after months of threats, the large group of men showed up at the door ready to force him to comply. When the men pushed his wife to the ground, Shen, along with his 18-year-old son, who is also a kung fu expert, sprung into action. The two fought off their attackers, leaving seven of them nearly unconscious in the hallway. Shen claims that only seven were injured because the mob of men fled after they saw what they were up against.

Draft the script and cast Jet Li, this is the plot of a movie I would pay to see.
