The LAW's TNA Final Resolution Preview
The LAW / December 9, 2012 - 2:50pm
Tonight TNA presents their final pay-per-view of the year with Final Resolution from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida. The LAW breaks down the entire card and will have a recap tonight on the show at Midnight EST on TSN 1050 Toronto, The TEAM 1410 in Vancouver and you can also listen online here on the website.
JEFF HARDY VS BOBBY ROODE FOR THE TNA TITLE
Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
After the conclusion of Impact this week and the tease that Roode hired Aces & Eights to take out Hardy, I think we could see a title change here and the idea that the main TNA title is now with Aces & Eights. This angle needs something to freshen it up and this could be it as A & E's really don't have a good front man, and Roode could easily take that role. I'm going to go with Roode winning with A & E's help.
John Pollock
I cannot say this has been a sensational build by any stretch and feels just the monthly TNA Title match on a show. That said I don’t expect anything out of the ordinary from these two, who have always gelled in the ring together and should have the usual pro-Hardy crowd reactions in Orlando. I’m sure at some point in 2013 the title will finds its way back to Bobby Roode but tonight would certainly be too soon for that and Hardy should keep the title. The tease of Bobby Roode joining Aces and 8’s was an interesting way to end the show and could foreshadow a big angle on the show tonight.
A.J. STYLES VS CHRISTOPHER DANIELS
Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
This will obviously be the show stealer, but I have to question whether it really is their final match at Final Resolution, which usually has no resolution at all. I kind of expect to see AJ lose here and begin his heel turn. In fact, I could almost see some scenario where Storm tries to help AJ, it backfires, and AJ and Storm feud for the next little while. Daniels wins.
John Pollock
I have yet to get tired of ever seeing these two opposite of one another on a pay-per-view and it’s a credit to both that they have kept this program as fresh as they have. The storyline is that Styles has hit a bump in the road on his career and is failing over and over again so a loss to Daniels would play into that best. I like the dynamic where Daniels can brag and brag that he “won” the feud and refuse to ever face Styles again.
AUSTIN ARIES VS BULLY RAY
Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
Okay, so we're having a match based around the fact that AA knows that something is up between Brooke Hogan and Bully Ray. I can't help but think that Brooke Hogan will be involved in some way, which TNA best be careful with because the fans will crap all over that. I see AA getting the win here and the feud continues.
John Pollock
I expect less of a match and more storytelling in this match with Hulk and Brooke Hogan getting involved in some fashion. The easy comparison of this storyline to the John Cena / AJ angle may lead to people being negative on the program but I’m not in that boat as Aries, Bully Ray and Hulk have all played their parts very well and this match should deliver. They had a fantastic match a few months back on pay-per-view and if given time this could be the best match on the show.
KURT ANGLE & WES BRISCO & GARRET BISCHOFF & SAMOA JOE VS ACES AND 8’S
Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
This one appears to be obviously set up for Bischoff or Brisco or both together turning on Kurt Angle and Aces & Eights getting the big win. I don't know how much it helps to put those two guys with A & E but I think it would be more interesting if TNA got an actual solid victory over these guys just to liven things up and save the Big Aces & Eights win for the main event.
John Pollock
This is where the big angle should be shot where Bischoff and Brisco turn on their mentor and bloody him to a pulp. You could go the extra step and also include Joe but that begs the question why Aces and 8’s had previously attacked Joe and just laid him out with a hammer on Thursday. Aces and 8’s win the match and we get the big turn from Brisco and Bischoff.
ROB VAN DAM VS KENNY KING FOR THE X DIVISION TITLE
Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
This should be a good match too, and I would love to see the belt go to Kenny King here, who has basically been wasted since he came in from ROH. RVD is just a place holder in this division anyway, so let's hand it over to King and he can work with Ion and Kash like they did in their excellent three way on Impact this week.
John Pollock
I’m always leery of Rob Van Dam matches with someone he is not familiar with and whether it will lead to a clash of styles. King had a very good match on Thursday with Zema Ion and Kid Kash and this should be your typical 10-minute X division opener with Van Dam keeping the title. Van Dam has shown an extra spring in his step this year and King is working to impress and that could make for a better than expected outing from these two.
HERNANDEZ & CHAVO GUERRERO VS JOEY RYAN & MATT MORGAN FOR THE TAG TITLES
Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I could easily see the titles changing hands here to increase the push on Ryan and Morgan.
Hope Hernandez and Chavo have their Direct Insurance paid up because they're getting beat by the spokesman and his partner.
John Pollock
I can’t say this match holds an ounce of my interest as I write this the day of the show. The tag division is very hot and cold in TNA and this month I register it under the latter description. You could change the titles in this one if Morgan is set for a bigger role in 2013 but Ryan is simply a comedic sidekick to me and I don’t like the idea of the titles on them. We also get the long awaited rematch between Morgan and Hernandez after that legendary feud in 2010.
TARA VS MICKIE JAMES FOR THE KNOCKOUTS TITLE
Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I would love to see Tara hold it for quite a while because I love the heel gimmick with Big Brother Jesse as the power couple of TNA. So I see Mickey getting cheated here and Tara remains champ.
John Pollock
The segment on television this week was so strange as you had a real life story to tell in Mickie James discovering a benign tumor and missing months of action BUT never actually got to tell that story because her segment with Tara was background for the return of Velvet Sky. It seemed a week early to bring back Sky and left this match without any momentum and expect Tara keeps the title.
