**A note to listeners that our next show will be The LAW this Sunday night with a brand new show at Midnight EST on TSN 1050 Toronto and The TEAM 1410 in Vancouver for our annual “Best of” show as we welcome Wai Ting into studio to join us for our picks in the following categories:

**This past Tuesday’s edition of Smackdown will be airing in Canada tonight at 8pm EST on The Score will not be commercial free so it will be a creatively edited edition of the show.
**The Rock is confirmed for both the January 7th Raw tapings in Tampa and will also be at the Smackdown tapings the next night in Miami. I cannot imagine what this guy’s schedule must look like for the first three-months of the year considering the movies he has to promote and devoting a significant chunk of his time to the WWE.
**The WWE and TNA crews are off now until after Christmas when they run their post-Christmas sets of house shows.
LAW MMA UPDATE
**This week on The MMA Report I am joined by the recently retired Mark Hominick to discuss his decision to step away, what is next, when he made the decision and looking back at his influence during such a pivotal time. Plus, I chat with comic book writer Joe Antonacci about his new MMA themed book “Joe Palooka” and for the first time Jason Agnew and Dan Lovranski jump on to chat with me about last weekend’s fights and the big stories to watch in 2013. You can download the show at http://lawradio.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=shows&action=display&thread=2258 or listen to it tonight at 11pm EST on TSN 1050 Toronto and subscribe to The MMA Report with John Pollock on iTunes.
**In a mere formality Scott Coker confirmed on Thursday that the January 12th Strikeforce card in Oklahoma City would in fact be the final card from the promotion.
**It is now official that Melvin Guillard and Jamie Varner will have their lightweight fight next weekend at UFC 155 in Las Vegas. The fight has been added to the undercard with Chris Leben Vs Derek Brunson remaining on the main card.
**Bobby Voelker is being moved over to the UFC from Strikeforce to fight Patrick Cote at the UFC 158 card on March 16th in Montreal. This will be a welterweight fight with Cote announcing earlier this week he was cutting down from 185.
**Another Strikeforce fighter being moved over to the UFC roster is Robbie Lawler, who is also cutting down to 170 and will fight Josh Koscheck in his return to the UFC at UFC 157 on February 23rd in Anaheim, California. Lawler hasn’t fought at welterweight since 2004 and left the UFC later that year.
**Invicta FC has announced that their next card on January 5th will be an iPPV event with a price to be determined at a later date. Invicta FC debuted last April to a lot of online fanfare and have run their shows free of charge on their website and also have signed a television deal with Fight Network in Canada to air previous cards on the network. The January 5th event takes place from Kansas City, Missouri and is headlined by Carla Esparza taking on Claudia Gadelha to crown the promotion’s first strawweight champion.
**Happy Birthday to Mauro Ranallo of Showtime Sports, he will be calling the New Year’s Eve card for GLORY and DREAM as well as Invicta FC 4 and the final Strikeforce card over the next few weeks.
**The heavyweight bout between Brendan Schaub and Lavar Johnson that was scheduled for the UFC on FOX 5 card earlier this month has been re-booked for UFC 157 on February 23rd in Anaheim. Both 156 and 157 in February are shaping up to be very solid shows with the fights announced. The 157 card has also just added Chad Mendes, fresh off his quick 1:55 win over Yaotzin Meza this past weekend in Australia, taking on Manny Gamburyan.
**Bellator has announced that Bantamweight Champion Eduardo Dantas will defend his title on February 14th against Marcos Galvao in Charlotte, North Carolina and will air that night on Spike TV.
**Loretta Hunt of SI.com runs down her ten favorite stories of 2012 at http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mma/news/20121220/favorite-mma-stories-2012/?sct=mma_t11_a6.
