LAW Dec. 22 Update - Rip Hawk Passes Away
Blaine van der Griend / December 22, 2012 - 5:31pm
We start with some sad news today, as Harvey Evers, better known to wrestling fans as Rip “The Profile” Hawk has passed away at the age of 82. Hawk was best known for teaming with Swede Hanson in the Carolinas in the 1960s. The team known as The Blond Bombers held the Atlantic Coast Tag Team Titles on four occasions and they worked almost exclusively as main eventers. Hawk was also credited as one of the individuals who helped boost the popularity of the TV show Wrestling at the Chase in St. Louis in the 1950s. He also assisted in making Ric Flair a star in the Carolinas, as Flair was introduced as the nephew of Hawk, and the two of them actually won the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Titles, which was Flair’s first championship.
Sin Cara has announced via Twitter that his knee surgery went well and he has returned home to Mexico. The Wrestling Observer reports that the surgery was actually arthroscopic knee surgery, and that Sin Cara should be cleared to wrestle again soon.
Kurt Angle has reached a legal settlement with Wafi Wahidi, whom Angle claimed was contracted to create Apps for his fitness programs for Angle foods. Angle announced in November that he was suing Wahidi and his company WabaSocial for $35, 000, claiming that they scammed him for $34, 700, as they never created the Apps.
TNA sent out a press release, stating that two new shows will be taped during Genesis weekend. These shows, which were only described as ‘ALL NEW programming presented by TNA Wrestling,’ will be filmed on January 12, 2013, but no further details were given.

There will be a WWE Royal Rumble Fan Fest on January 26 of next year, in Phoenix. This will feature a tournament, where the winner will receive a guaranteed slot in the rumble match. There will also be live musical performances, food trucks, interactive Superstar Q and A panels and a lot more.
This year’s Survivor Series did 212,000 buys, which is a significant drop from the last two years. Last year drew 281,000 buys with a main event of The Rock and John Cena against The Miz and R Truth, while the 2010 Survivor Series drew 244,000 buys with a main event of Wade Barrett against Randy Orton with John Cena as the special guest referee.
