Golden Boy: Forbes vs. Perez LIVE Saturday on Fight Network
Fight Network Staff / January 9, 2013 - 12:17pm
Toronto – Canada's Fight Network, the world's premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, will present a live broadcast of Golden Boy Promotions this Saturday from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, headlined by a 10-round welterweight showdown pitting once-beaten prospect Johan Perez against well-travelled veteran Steve Forbes.
The live Golden Boy Promotions broadcast on Fight Network will begin at 9 p.m. ET.
In the co-main event, scheduled for eight rounds in the light heavyweight division, undefeated Thomas Williams takes on Jason Smith.
"What better way to kick off our stacked 2013 live event calendar than with a solid night of boxing presented by Golden Boy Promotions," said Chad Midgley, VP of Programming & Production at Fight Network.
The 29-year-old Perez (15-1-1, 12 KOs) will look to rebound from his lone professional setback against Pablo Cesar Cano this past July. The Venezuelan holds notable wins over Alberto Mosquera, Kenny Galarza and Fernando Castaneda.
No stranger to longtime boxing fans, the 35-year-old Forbes (35-11, 11 KOs) has fought some of the biggest names in the sport, including the "Golden Boy" himself, Oscar De La Hoya, as well as IBF light middleweight champion Cornelius Bundrage, former IBF and WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto and red-hot unbeaten prospects Karim Mayfield and Jessie Vargas. Forbes will be looking to return to the win column, having dropped eight of his past 11 bouts.
