WBC Statement on 50th Anniversary

From WBC President Dr. José Sulaimán:

On its 50th anniversary, the WBC is proud of having changed the world of boxing.

The World Boxing Council was founded 50 years ago on February 14th, 1963. 50 years later, the WBC is very proud to have changed the world of boxing 180 degrees regarding safety, protection to the boxers, championship recognition, unity in boxing in the world, as well as good rules and order.

My congratulations to all the members of the Board of Governors, the Executive Council, members of the committees and all of the WBC family around the world.

I would also like to add my homage and gratitude to all those of the past who founded the organization and worked so hard to have it as strong, respected, and careful as it is today.

May the WBC live forever.
