The LAW's WWE Elimination Chamber Preview

Live Audio Wrestling / February 17, 2013 - 12:34pm

Tonight is the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view from New Orleans, Louisiana and their final pay-per-view before WrestleMania 29. The LAW has a full preview of the card below and then tune into the show tonight at 11pm EST on TSN 1050 Toronto and The TEAM 1410 in Vancouver to catch a full review of the show.

THE ROCK vs. CM PUNK FOR THE WWE TITLE (If Rock is counted out or disqualified he loses the title)

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
This one seems pretty obvious. With the "Rock loses the title if he gets DQ'd" stip, it looks like we'll get a strong clean finish this time to set things in motion for Cena vs Rock at Mania.

Jason Agnew
Obviously Rock has to retain here, the interesting thing will be to see how they do this to keep Punk strong and send him into Mania facing the Rock.

John Pollock
It’s probably very likely that The Rock wins clean tonight heading into WrestleMania. However, we’ve got six-weeks until WrestleMania and A LOT of appearances by The Rock from now until then. I cannot see the WWE resisting the temptation to have him do a match on television before ‘Mania and that’s why I see the disputed finish tonight where Rock is either disqualified or counted out and they do the third match on Raw in a 2-3-weeks for a big number.

ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. BIG SHOW FOR THE WORLD TITLE

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I know we've probably picked this a hundred times already, but this looks like the golden opportunity for Ziggler to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. You have Alberto Del Rio win the match, but then he gets knocked cold by Show, which allows Ziggler to run down and cash in.

Jason Agnew
Well with the introduction of Dutch Mantel as Zeb Colter, I'd guess that we're moving towards a Swagger vs. Del Rio race related feud.  So Del Rio has to keep this here.

John Pollock

I feel the intriguing part of this match is whether or not they have Dolph Ziggler cash in at the end of the match and have him going into WrestleMania as champion. It seems definite that Del Rio is “destined” for a program with Jack Swagger coming out of this week and the only question is whether that is going to be a title program or not. My guys says “no” with Del Rio winning tonight but no cash in from Ziggler.

CHRIS JERICHO vs. MARK HENRY vs. JACK SWAGGER vs. DANIEL BRYAN vs. KANE vs. RANDY ORTON IN THE ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I honestly think that Jericho is going over here because they've been pushing how he's been in more chamber matches than anyone. I also think Ziggler is cashing in tonight, so this would set up Jericho vs Ziggler at Mania, and Jericho puts him over strong at Mania and hopefully this will revitalize Ziggler and he can have a good sized heel title run.

Jason Agnew
Mark Henry vs. Alberto Del Rio at Wrestlemania?  I guess so...

John Pollock
I think most people have a lot of interest in terms of what direction they could go in this match with arguments to be made for Henry, Swagger and to a lesser degree Jericho and Orton. These matches are typically put together really well and with the talent in this match I expect this to be a hell of a match. Mark Henry seems the likely pick but I just don’t see him in that role as WrestleMania title challenger against Del Rio, Show or Ziggler. Orton is just a cold character to be me right now with no momentum and that leaves the choices between Jericho and Swagger. It’s a lot of confidence in Swagger to get behind him at this point but the Del Rio program seems so obvious to do that there wouldn’t be any reason for this character unless that was the destination. My pick is Swagger to win the match.

JOHN CENA & SHEAMUS & RYBACK vs. THE SHIELD

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
This is so simple it's bound to get screwed up. I say the Shield goes over strong with Reigns pinning Sheamus after he misses the Brogue Kick. The Shield looks strong going into Mania, and, depending on how long they want them as a group, they eventually get beat them down the road and start solo careers. But tonight, they need to go over strong.

Jason Agnew
Shield is going over here, Sheamus will take the pin.

John Pollock
John Cena certainly doesn’t have to be involved in the finish but I’m not against the idea of Dean Ambrose pinning Cena and that is a future post-WrestleMania program where you can buy the challenger as a threat to Cena. That said I don’t see them going that direction with the story of Cena on this incredible roll heading into WrestleMania and looking unstoppable. If one of the babyfaces is taking the fall it certainly makes sense for Sheamus to take it as opposed to Ryback, who needs everything he can get at this point. Either way I see The Shield winning and Sheamus continuing to feud with The Shield heading into WrestleMania.

ANTONIO CESARO vs. THE MIZ FOR THE U.S. TITLE

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I certainly don't see the Miz getting the title here. So why don't we have some fun with this and have Cesaro retain the title, and the next night on RAW he brings out the Iron Sheik as his mentor, and then Miz comes back with Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and you set up a tag with Sheikie and Cesaro against Miz and Hacksaw for Mania. That sounds a lot more interesting than what we'll probably get, which is a rematch with these two one more time.

Jason Agnew
Cesaro should keep this.

John Pollock
Antonio Cesaro wins by Uriah Hall spin kick to the head.

KAITLYN vs. TAMINA SNUKA FOR THE DIVA’S TITLE

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
It's too bad the roles aren't reversed here and Tamina was the babyface. I would suggest Kaitlyn retains tonight by cheating, and when they have the rematch at Mania, Tamina has her dad in her corner, who helps her win the title and you get a cool Wrestlemania moment. However, I don't see that happening, and maybe they put it on Tamina here so Kaitlyn can win it back at Mania.

Jason Agnew
Boo cares... yeh that's right, it's like saying who cares and boooing this match at the same time.... pointless.

John Pollock
Kaitlyn retains the title and looking at how loaded this card is, this match will be in a tough spot no matter where they are placed.

TEAM RHODES SCHOLARS vs. BRODUS CLAY & TENSAI

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I'm guessing they really want to convince us that Sandow and Rhodes are no longer a team, and they are going to be cannon fodder for the World's Fattest Tag Team.

Jason Agnew
Remember when Rhodes Scholars broke up? That was two weeks ago... and now they're back together for this match, that makes sense, and I bet they're going to lose here too.

John Pollock
Tensai and Clay get the win and dance. It sucks to be Rhodes Scholars right now.
