LAW Feb. 27 Update - MVP Not Taking Dates with NJPW

John Pollock / February 27, 2013 - 3:28pm

**Today’s edition of Review-A-Wai is up on the site at http://fightnetwork.com/news/36735:review-a-wai-wcw-superbrawl-3-white-castle-of-fear/ with Wai Ting and I reviewing the WCW SuperBrawl 3 event from 1993 and was the culmination of the infamous White Castle of Fear vignette they shot with Big Van Vader and Sting. The show also features the return of Ric Flair after his first stint in the WWF, an early Hollywood Blonds match and the first pay-per-view after Bill Watts had left the company as booker. You can also subscribe to Live Audio Wrestling on iTunes for all of our shows.

**WWE Raw did a 3.46 rating on Monday night and averaged 4,710,000 viewers, which is up slightly from the week prior but without The Rock this week. Next week’s Old School Raw in Buffalo will feature The Rock back on the show but both Lesnar and Chris Jericho are not scheduled for the show.

**The WWE is adding a General Manager figure to the Saturday Morning Slam show that airs on CW Network. They held the tapings in Oklahoma City on Tuesday and unveiled Mick Foley as the General Manager but this will not air on television for a few weeks.

**TNA is back with their first live edition of Impact Wrestling in over a month tomorrow in Orlando, Florida. They will also be taping Impact live next Thursday at the Impact Zone and then go on the road permanently starting with the March 14th show in Chicago. They are promoting the return of Jeff Hardy and the announcement of the Lethal Lockdown teams for Sting and Aces and Eights this Thursday night.

**MVP has announced that he is leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling posting:

I informed NJPW that I would no longer accept dates. I would like to thank @njpw1972 for allowing me to realize a dream! I love Japan and will forever be grateful. I left on good terms as always.

I WILL return to wrestling eventually. The door is open for a return toWWE
, NJPW, and even TNA. However my focus now is developing my TV show.

**The Miz will be on Conan O’Brien tonight at 11pm EST promoting the DVD and Blu Ray release of The Marine 3.

**The WWE website has posted pictures of Brock Lesnar receiving twelve staples following his brawl with Triple H on Monday night in Dallas at http://www.wwe.com/shows/raw/2013-02-25/brock-lesnar-staples-head-photos.

**The Rock is currently in Panama filming his reality series “The Hero” that he is an Executive Producer on and is also hosting, which will premiere on TNT this summer.

**Ric Flair and Roddy Piper have filmed an episode of Celebrity Wife Swap for ABC that will be airing later this season. Flair’s girlfriend (former WCW valet Fifi the Maid) is swapped with Piper’s wife on the episode and was taped earlier this month.

**The WWE has posted the full match between John Cena and CM Punk from this past Monday’s Raw in Dallas, Texas:

**For whatever reason the WWE opted not to air this segment on Raw this past Monday where the company sent Michael Cole to the offices of Glenn Beck to ambush them for an interview:

**Ring of Honor has announced a live event for San Antonio, Texas on June 1st at the San Antonio Shrine Auditorium.

**Triple H (@TripleH) and Stephanie McMahon (@StephMcMahon) are both on Twitter now.

LAW MMA UPDATE

**The MMA and Kickboxing worlds were rocked with the news of the sudden passing of legendary Dutch kickboxer Ramon Dekkers, who died earlier today while riding his bike in his hometown of Breda in The Netherlands. Dekkers had over 200 professional fights and was a trailblazer by going to Thailand and finding enormous success. His last bout took place in 2006 and did have a one mixed martial arts fight when he fought on a K-1 Hero’s card in March of 2005 where he was submitted by Genki Sudo. Dekkers continued to train up until his passing and even tweeted the morning of his death how great the future of kickboxing was looking with the GLORY group expanding their shows. Dekkers was 43-years old at the time of his passing with the cause of death still pending.

Below is a clip from a documentary that was in the works on the career of Dekkers prior to his passing:

**The Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga flyweight title fight is off of the April 13th TUF 17 Finale card in Las Vegas as was reported on UFC Tonight Tuesday night in FUEL TV with Johnson suffering an injury in training. The new main event for the show will see Urijah Faber takes on Scott Jorgensen in a bantamweight bout with both men coming off wins in their outings. That same card will also feature Miesha Tate taking on Cat Zingano and the finals of the current season of TUF.

**Matthew Riddle has been released by the UFC in a report by Ariel Helwani at MMAFighting.com following Riddle’s second positive drug test where marijuana was found in his system following his split decision win over Che Mills at the UFC on FUEL 7 card in London, England. Riddle tested positive for the drug after his win over Chris Clements last July at UFC 149 and that win was turned into a no contest, which this one likely will as well.

**The weigh-ins for tomorrow night’s Bellator card take place later today in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Tomorrow’s card is headlined by Christian M’Pumbu defending the light heavyweight title against Attila Vegh plus the semi-finals of the lightweight tournament with Jason Fischer taking on David Rickels and Will Brooks takes on Saad Awad.

**Shahbulat Shamhalaev has stepped in to replace Daniel Straus on the April 4th season ending Bellator card to challenge featherweight champion Pat Curran. Straus had won the season six tournament but broke his hand this past week and they will go with Shamhalaev, who just won the most recent featherweight tournament last Thursday defeating Rad Martinez in the finals and was due a title shot anyway.

**The UFC on FUEL 8 press conference takes place from Tokyo tonight at 8pm EST. The card is headlined by Brian Stann taking on Wanderlei Silva at 205-pounds.

**Globo TV out of Brazil reports that a lightweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Evan Dunham is in the works for the UFC on FX 8 card on May 18th in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

**Free agent Jacob Volkmann, who was one of the sixteen fighters cut last week by the UFC, has signed with the World Series of Fighting organization. Volkmann went 6-4 during his UFC run with his final eight fights taking place at lightweight after cutting down. Volkmann is coming off a loss to Bobby Green at UFC 156 earlier this month.

**A writer is not impressed with Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche comparing it “porn” and later in the article refers to Ronda as “Rouse” at http://onmilwaukee.com/sports/articles/begelwomesufc.html.
