The Unstoppable Karate Evolution

Karate is the combat sport most recognised and practiced all over the world. The most reliable statistics place the number of athletes up to 100 millions and besides, they are distributed in all countries over the world.

The last World Championship - which were held in Paris – confirms this strength and universality in terms of numbers that talk about an unstoppable evolution of this sport with traditional values but also an innovative sport that it is a pure spectacle.

55.000 spectators crowded Paris Bercy during the 5 competition days. On the tatami, 990 karatekas from 116 countries showed their talent and a competitive style was consolidated which it already had such great result in Belgrado 2010, the previous World Championships.

From all the delegations that took part in the Paris Championships, it is clear that up to 20 of them got a place in the medal table which was leaded by France and folowed by Japan, Turkey and Iran.

Of course, also there was a great support by the 280 journalists who were acreditated  and their media and by the TVs. The Paris World Championships were broadcasted in 120 countries through 17 TV Channels (12 live) and this has to be put together with the broadcasting through the EUROVISION network and the exclusive WKF Youtube channel (1.500.000 visits) for the rest of the territories and so, all places in the world were covered.

The WKF own production in HD and its concept of show sport as well as the massive approachment to all over the world has made easier the entrance of sponsorships (3 main sponsorships and 7 of equipment), the increasing of the incomes from marketing concept and the consideration of the Karate as a media tic power it is always facing a real an unstoppable evolution.
