**There is a great article on Mark LoMonaco (Brother Ray Dudley) in the ‘Miami Herald’ today discussing his entire career and includes comments from Paul Heyman. The article describes his debut in ECW as Mongo Vyle and having to cut his hair as per the request of Heyman and the genesis of the Buh Buh Ray Dudley character. Ray also chats about the WWE splitting up The Dudley Boyz in 2002:
Splitting us up in 2004 (it was actually 2002) wasn’t good because me and Devon were at the height of our success in WWE.
Why would you want to tamper with something that was such a draw? When Vince McMahon originally approached us and said, `I want to break you guys up because I want to shock the people.’ Me and Devon told him this is not a good idea, and he said, `Why?’ We said, `With all due respect, nobody ever wanted to see The Road Warriors wrestle by themselves, and nobody wants to see us wrestle by ourselves, and nobody is ever going to believe that either one of us can become the world heavyweight champion. So you’re splitting us up for shock value.
On his current feud with D-Von in TNA:
Right now we’re embarking on a part of our career that we’ve kind of been forced into, due to the fact that there are a lack of teams for Me and Devon to wrestle. We’ve wrestled everybody over and over again. So we took the next natural step, and who knows where this step will take us.

**It was on this date in 2001 that the WWE ‘Vengeance’ pay per view took place in San Diego, California and is a show that probably would have been forgotten had it not been for Chris Jericho referencing the show countless times in promos for the next nine years. This was the show where Jericho defeated The Rock and Steve Austin in the same night to become the first Undisputed Champion in the WWE and the end of the WCW Title (it was brought back in September 2002 but was simply called the ‘World Title’, which is the current Smackdown championship they use). The pay per view also featured Matt Hardy Vs Jeff Hardy in a match that the crowd did not get behind and ended all plans to split the two up and they were quickly put back together as a team in 2002 before they split them again and put them on opposing brands rather than feud the two.
