LOS ANGELES, CA – The following quotes are from today’s UFC Weigh-in on FUEL TV, hosted by veteran combat sports journalist Karyn Bryant. UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz and Kenny Florian offered analysis. Two-time MMA Journalist of the Year Ariel Helwani conducted on-site interviews.

“UFC Weigh-in Show on FUEL TV” Analyst Dominick Cruz on Jon Jones vs. Vitor Belfort: “Jon Jones needs to keep the fight on his pace. Vitor needs to keep the distance with his lead leg and get inside to deliver strikes.”

“UFC Weigh-in Show on FUEL TV” Kenny Florian on if the controversy over cancelling UFC 151 will affect Jon Jones in the fight tomorrow: “It could have, we’re going to find out. That kind of controversy is tough to handle. Jon Jones is a young guy.”

Cruz on if Jones will be affected by the recent controversy: “I don’t think it will affect him. He’ll go out, determine the pace of the fight, and establish his range. Vitor has the best chance of anyone to get inside and box with him. Jones is so good at establishing his range, and he forces you to get impatient. You have to take shots on the inside and get the angles.”

Florian on Belfort’s keys to victory: “Vitor is so explosive. He jumps on you early. He always goes for the head. Jon Jones has to be careful of those head strikes. Vitor has all the skills to beat Jones. He has great boxing skills and he starts very, very fast. Look for a fast start from Vitor Belfort.”

Florian on who’s been effective against Jones: “We saw that range established in the fight with Lyoto Machida. He was patient and he won that first round. You can’t be frazzled by Jon Jones. You can’t let that take you over and you have to stick to the game plan.”

Vitor Belfort tells Ariel Helwani how he feels after the weight cut to 205: “I’m so used to cutting weight. It’s part of the job. This is such a major thing, to make weight. I deliver. This is a respectful thing for the fans and organization.”

Belfort on how he feels going into the fight as the underdog: “It doesn’t matter what others think. It just matters what I think and what god thinks. Jones will be defending his title and I need to take charge and come to fight.”

Belfort tells Joe Rogan about what it’s like to have this opportunity: “First of all I want to thank God for the opportunity. Thank all of you guys for making the sport what it is today. I have been fighting for so long and we worked really hard for a platform like this. To have the opportunity to fight Jon Jones, the youngest guy in the sport – the young lion, against the old lion, is a great opportunity. I can’t wait to fight tomorrow night.”

Jon Jones about what it’s like to have this opportunity: “Well, I honestly believe that Vitor is one of the best in the world. He is as good as it gets and I am excited to get out there and do what I do best.”

Florian’s prediction on Jones vs. Belfort: “Belfort for the upset.”

Cruz’s prediction on Jones vs. Belfort: “I’ll go Belfort within three rounds.”

UFC President Dana White on why he missed the UFC 152 press conference in Toronto: “What was the speculation? I flew from Las Vegas on a red eye flight. I got cocky talking smack about my Meniere’s disease. It’s put me down since Wednesday.”

White on if he’s met with Jon Jones in person yet to discuss cancelling UFC 152: “We’re just minutes away from meeting with Jon Jones. What will be said? That’s none of your business.”

White on if Jon Jones’ remarks at the press conference helped or hurt the relationship? “I’m glad he said some things. I don’t think he would have said those if I was there. It was false that he didn’t know that UFC 151 would be cancelled if he didn’t take the fight. I told him it would. I think he’s acting like he’s taking it all very lightly. There was a lot of collateral damage from the fall out. He needs to take it seriously. There’s been a lot of fans turn on him.”

White on if Jones hurt his brand image by not taking the UFC 151 fight and recent comments: “I never get the brand thing. That doesn’t really resonate with me. This whole thing has gone sideways and hopefully we’ll get it fixed.”

Cruz on Demetrious Johnson vs. Joseph Benavidez: “I’ve wanted to see this fight for a while. Demetrious Johnson floats around the mat like no other. This will be an unbelievable fight.”

Florian on Johnson vs. Benavidez: “Both these guys have the style to make it an exciting fight.”

Cruz on what Benavidez has to do to win: “You know I think he is home at 125. I think it is good for him. The key to his victory is his strong base and his wrestling background. He must mix up his takedowns with his striking. He is heavy handed. There is no secret in that, so he needs to be patient and keep a tight defense. He has to let Demetrious jump around and land the big strikes when Demetrious is entering.”

Florian on what Johnson has to do to win: “Benavidez hits so hard because he is flat footed. Demetrious has a different style that could work against him because he bounces around the Octagon. He moves in and moves out. You do not want to get hit by one of the strong hits by Benavidez, so he is also going to have to mix it up against him. He is going to have to lead the dance. He has to go first. He is the faster guy.”

Demetrious Johnson on what the first flyweight title means to him: “Amazing. Joseph and I are going to show you that the Flyweight division is here to stay. Fighting someone like Joseph is an honor and I am proud. It’s going to be a good fight.”

Joseph Benavidez on what the first Flyweight title means to him: “It means everything. I have worked so hard for it. Just the fact that this is coming true right now, I’m soaking it all in. I can’t wait to give you a fight that you won’t forget. And I am so thankful to have the opportunity to fight at my true weight. I have an amazing opponent in Demetrious and we bring out the best in each other. Like I said, I just can’t wait to bring an amazing night of fighting to everyone.”

Florian’s prediction on Johnson vs. Benavidez: “I’m going to go with Benavidez and his ability to finish.”

Cruz’s prediction for Johnson vs. Benavidez: “Benavidez has more experience and power.”

Florian on Brian Stann and Michael Bisping facing off at the Weigh-in: “That was intense. Both are excited to face each other. It is a huge fight. Huge implications. They are fired up. They’ve wanted to fight each other for a long time.”

Florian on Brian Stann: “Since coming down to 185, Brian Stann has looked excellent. He has really improved a lot in his wrestling. But where you really have to look out for him is in his boxing. You’ll have to look out for that in the first two rounds.”

Florian on Bisping: “His skills are so underrated. This is a guy who can do it all. He’s a very good striker. What we are really going to see in this fight is his grappling. He possesses some very underrated wrestling skills. They are really good. Especially early on as he faces Stann, look for his takedown attempts.”

Cruz on whether Stann can stay standing in the fight: “He can. I think that it is going to be key. He needs to keep a tight base and a tight defense and stop the takedowns, because I think it is no secret that The Count wants to take him down. You don’t want to stand with Stann, taking those big punches. He is going to use his takedown defense and Stann has to use his big punches.”

Stann tells Helwani what he and Bisping said to each other at the weigh-in: “You know we just had some intense exchanges. We both want to deliver. We know there has been some negativity because the card was cancelled. We are both very motivated to go out there and win this card. We want to be the best. Both of us want to be champions. We are going to go out tomorrow night and give our best. We know that we each have to beat each other to do that. I am not here to lie down. I am not here to put down a good fight. I am here to win. I don’t care that the odds are against me, none of that matters when the cage door closes. I am here to fight and to win.”

Florian on Evan Dunham: “Evan is a guy I know very well. A guy I was supposed to fight a while back. I actually tore my ACL and was not able to fight him. This is a guy who is really well rounded and really dangerous.”

Cruz on Club Swanson: “I have known him since the WEC days. He’s one of the most dynamic strikers at 145 pounds. People should look out for that guy. He has some mean submissions as well.”

Florian on Matt Hamill: “Matt Hamill is a very good wrestler. He is a guy who was retired and is now back in the 205 division. He has faced some of the best in that division and I am looking forward to seeing him compete.”
