M-1 Challenge XXII: Fioravanti vs. Guseinov Preview
Press Release / December 3, 2010 - 10:42am
Fighting out of Orlando, Florida and the famed American Top Team, 29-year-old Luigi Fioravanti is looking to build upon his recent TKO victory over Woody Weatherby at the M-1 Selection American Finals this past September. To string together back to back wins, 'The Italian Tank' has to stop the 15-1 Arthur Guseinov, who has stepped in to replace the injured Shahrijar Abassov. Fans around the world can catch the middleweight contention battle from the Druzhba Arena in Moscow, Russia LIVE and for free on Friday December 10th by tuning in to the official M-1 website, www.M-1Global.com starting at 11:00am EST / 8:00am PST.
As part of the undercard at the M-1 Selection American Finals, Fioravanti silenced his recent critics by putting up a dominant display of overpowering striking which forced the referee to intervene just past the midway point of the first round; the victory notched his professional record up to 18-8. The former US-Marine is making last minute preparations before crossing the pond after a dedicated and seamless training camp. To add fuel to the bout's hype, Fioravanti aptly declared in a recent interview that he intends to give Guseinov "the beating of a lifetime" on route to handing him the second loss of his career.
Speak with big words is always easy but talk is cheap unless it's backed up and Guseinov has no plans to stand idly by to accept a second loss. Stepping in on short notice is added proof that Guseinov possess a fighting spirit equal to the former Marine and this middleweight bout is bound to be a barn-burner.
Since making his professional debut in October 2005, the Action-Force Fight Team member has ended all his bouts in the first round with the majority by way of a devastating KO / TKO; the lone decision victory came against the credible Magomed "The White Wolf" Sultanakhmedov, who eerily enough is competing on the same card against Rafal Moks for the M-1 Challenge middleweight championship belt. This crafty technician packs lightning-quick striking abilities, tight clinch work, deadly spinning back-kicks and precision head-hunting high kicks. Fioravanti should expect Guseinov to open the bout with a blitzkrieg attack in an effort to overwhelm him quickly.
But with Fioravanti looking phenomenal in his last outing against Weatherby, the staunch American fighter has every one of his opponent's tactics countered, leaving the bout too close to call on paper. This is a potential fight-of-the-night bout with victory well within in the grasp of both fighters.
For the fighter who hails supreme on Friday December 10th, a plethora of 'what-if' scenarios will begin to play out as the middleweight contention picture shapes up for 2011. The entire M-1 Challenge XXII card can be captured LIVE online at the official M-1 website, www.M-1Global.com starting at 11:00am EST / 8:00am PST for free.
