John Pollock / December 27, 2010 - 3:42pm
**Sunday night’s edition of The LAW featuring Wai Ting and I filling in as guest hosts is now available for download at http://lawradio.podbean.com/mf/feed/pzzi3i/LAW-DEC26-2010.mp3. On Sunday’s show we were joined by Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com to chat about the major interviews he conducted over the past year including the 3-million hit sensation featuring The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar along with that Dave Meltzer joined us to discuss the release of Kaval as well as WWE’s pay-per view business in 2010. In addition to that we still had time for the final Review a Wai of 2010 as Wai and I reviewed the WCW Starrcade event from 1999 and also chatted with Jorge Barbosa of The Fight Network about his recent documentary ‘Geneation Evolucao’, so you can check all of that out right now.
**The ‘Charlotte Observer’ reports that TNA Champion Jeff Hardy will be pleading guilty to drug possession charges when he returns to court in January in Moore County, North Carolina. Authorities arrested Hardy on September 11th 2009 for large possessions of vicodin, soma, anabolic steroids, powder-cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Hardy has appeared in court numerous times over the past year with a continuance granted each time he appeared in court. Hardy is scheduled to be flying to Tokyo, Japan in a few days for the January 4th New Japan Pro Wrestling Tokyo Dome show and then flies back for the ‘Genesis’ pay-per view on January 9th (though Hardy is not currently scheduled to be working the pay-per view).
**Tonight ‘Raw’ takes place in Albany, New York with the WWE crew severely affected by the snowstorm in the northeast and led to numerous talents missing the house shows on Sunday. There is nothing announced for the show tonight as of yet.
**Talent that missed the Madison Square Garden show due to weather problems included Heath Slater, Sgt. Slaughter, Gail Kim and Alicia Fox as flights coming out of Florida were grounded. Tito Santana was called at the last-minute to be the guest on ‘Piper’s Pit’ in the role that Slaughter was scheduled for on the show.
**Due to the roster being so thin at the Madison Square Garden house show on Sunday, James ‘Nunzio’ Maritado was asked to referee one of the matches and was said to have done well in the role. Maritado was visiting friends backstage as he lives in the area.
**This Thursday’s edition of ‘Reaction’ is being promoted as the season finale of the show as no new episodes are scheduled for January.
**Low Ki breaks his silence (kind of):
**TMZ has posted a story that WWE producer Freddie Prinze Jr. is being sued by a man after a 2009 car accident where Prinze Jr. rear-ended a car at a red light in Los Angeles and has led to severe neck and back problems for the victim, who will be undergoing surgery on his back. The story states that the victim was being low-balled by his insurance company (he hasn’t been able to work since the accident) and suing Prinze Jr. was his only viable option.
**The two-hour edition of ‘Tribute to the Troops’ that aired on the USA Network last Wednesday did a 2.0 rating and averaged 3,012,000 viewers.
**Wai Ting and I will be back with a new edition of ‘Review a Raw’ Tuesday afternoon. There will be edition of ‘Review an Impact’ this week but then we are back next week.
