Leonard Garcia Could Be Next for Mike Brown

Mike Brown surprised many people in the MMA world with a first round KO victory over Urijah Faber at WEC 36. However, the last image most people have of Brown that evening is of
him holding his ribs with a very pained expression on his face.

“I’m ok. I tore a little bit of cartilage in the fight,” said Brown,
“I was swinging hard. I’ve done it before. It’s an old injury.”

Brown believes the healing process will take about four to six weeks
before he can train again. One of the questions many people had is if
he would have been able to continue the fight had he not finished Faber
so quickly.

“I would have been able to gut it out. I may have been limited, but it wouldn’t have stopped me.”

Going from challenger to champion is not always an easy task. Brown
is now being chased by all of the top featherweights in the world. He
should be healthy and ready to defend his featherweight title in a few
months. Brown already has an idea of who that fight may be with.

“I could fight again in March against (Leonard) Garcia,” said Brown.

Garcia looked very impressive in registering his own first round KO
victory on the same WEC 36 show in which Brown won the title. Garcia
knocked out former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver in a little over a minute.
