Building on the success of Revolution MMA in Thornhill, a suburb of Toronto, ex-Shooto star and a 5 time Canadian Jiu Jitsu Champion Joel Gerson, the man to hand MMA legend Rumina Sato his first loss via arm bar submission, has opened what is widely considered to be the fanciest and largest dedicated MMA facility in Canada. The two facilities boast well over 1000 students between them. Outside of California, Toronto is considered the biggest hub for MMA with one of the most active fan bases in the world. In addition, this event marks the first time a club specializing in MMA has expanded to a second location in the same marketplace, demonstrating the rise in popularity of the sport at a participation level. The new club uses over 13000 square feet of finished, functional space http://revmma.com/facilities.html. The first of its kind anywhere, the facility offers a large retail offering in the front foyer, in addition to wet steam rooms, 3 separate training areas, a mezzanine with offices, octagon and ring, lounge, and private lesson rooms, as well as weights and cardio equipment. Part of what sets the club apart though is the design: sleek masculine lines and white corrian counter tops compliment the custom made couches and display cases, all giving a GQ look to this one of a kind MMA facility. Aside from Gerson, the teaching team also includes Carlos “The Ronin” Newton, Canada’s first UFC Champion and a true MMA pioneer. Building on this string of firsts, the club will play host to Wanderlei “The Ax Murderer’ Silva on July 4th for a seminar & meet and greet with Round5 action figures, as he breaks the ice for his first visit to Toronto at the new facility.
