Despite earlier erroneous reports that surfaced stating his fighter
would be fighting Paul Kelly at UFC 89 in Birmingham, England October
18, Sam Stout’s trainer Shawn Tompkins has revealed the London,
Ontario native will face Terry Etim instead.

Stout (13-4-1), who recently signed a four-fight contract extension
with the UFC has not fought  since logging a split decision loss to
journeyman Rich Clementi at UFC 83 April 19 in Montreal, but according
to Tompkins has been very active training at home at Team Tompkins’
Muay Thai and Submission in London. The current TKO lightweight
champion Stout, will be looking to improve on his 2-3 UFC record with
a win over the tough opponent in Etim (10-2) whose has tasted defeat
in two of his three UFC appearances. He was on the losing end of two
unanimous decisions — one at the hands of Gleison Tibau at UFC 75
and the other to Rich Clementi at UFC 84 with his lone Octagon win
coming by submission over previously undefeated Matt Grice at UFC 70.

In the main event of the card 16-1 Liverpool, England fighter Michael
Bisping will lock horns with 18-4 Portland, Oregon brawler Chris
Leben. The bout is a redo of the two former “The Ultimate Fighter”
reality series contestants’ previously scheduled UFC 85 showdown that
was postponed due to Leben’s incarceration resulting from a breach of
probation. Lethbridge, Alberta native Jason Day stepped in for Leben
on three-weeks’ notice, losing to Bisping by first-round TKO. The
fight was the British TUF season 3 light heavyweight winner’s first at
185 pounds.
