**Ring of Honor owner Cary
Silken wrote an open letter today to wrestling fans pushing a heavier influence
of social media for the company moving forward including Twitter and Facebook
contests and where talent will be appearing prior to shows so fans can meet them.
**The August 16th edition of ‘Smackdown’ finished with a 1.6 rating averaging 2,691,000 viewers
for the go home show heading into ‘SummerSlam’.
**Batista will be featured
in an episode of ‘Chuck’ this fall on NBC. Steve Austin will also be appearing
this season on the show.
LAW MMA UPDATE
**Tom Wright, the Director
of Operations for UFC Canada has informed us that he has reached out to the
Canadian Medical Association and is awaiting a response from the advocacy group.
The CMA voted this past week at their annual meetings in Niagara Falls to push forth a motion to ban
the sport of Mixed Martial Arts across the country with 84% of the 250 doctors
voting for the ban, 1% objecting the ban and 15% abstaining from the vote.
**UFC ring card girl
Arianny Celeste will be appearing on the November cover of ‘Playboy’ and
recently completed her photo shoot with the magazine. This is the second time a
UFC ring card girl has been featured in Playboy with Rachelle Leah being the
first.
**The Nevada State
Athletic Commission announced Thursday that drug tests for Dominic Cruz, Joseph
Benavidez, Anthony Pettis, Chad Mendes, Bart Palaszewski, Scott Jorgensen,
Maciej Jewtuszko, Fredson Paixao, Danny Castillo, Javier Vasquez and Ricardo
Lamas from WEC 50 all came back negative.
