LAW March 15 Update – Austin, Hardy Highlight Week 2

By:  | Posted: Monday, March 15th, 2010 at 5:28 pm.

**Tonight ‘Raw’ is live in
San Diego, California with the return of Steve Austin as the guest host of the
show and he will be part of the WrestleMania contract signing tonight with
Vince McMahon and Bret Hart, they have announced the following matches for
tonight’s ‘WrestleMania Rewind’ themed show:
*Chris Jericho Vs Shawn
Michaels
*John Cena Vs Big Show
*Randy Orton Vs Triple H

**TNA ‘Impact’ is taped
tonight with the following lineup set for tonight’s show:
*Team 3-D & Jesse Neal
Vs The Nasty Boys & Jimmy Hart
*The Pope & Kurt Angle
Vs Ken Anderson & Desmond Wolfe
*A.J Styles Vs Jeff Hardy
in a non title match

This show was already written
before the rating came in for last Monday’s show so it is not a fair indicator
to determine if changes are going to be made in the product (that will be more evident
at the pay per view this Sunday). Eric Bischoff, Taz and others have been
promoting the Styles Vs Hardy match on Twitter today and it just astounds me
that the match couldn’t have been announced on TV last week as promotion is one
of the key areas that needs to be addressed in the future.

**For those that are
members of The LAW’s Facebook group, Jason Agnew and I will be interacting with
everyone on the page starting at 9pm EST and sharing our thoughts on both shows
as they happen.

**Here are the matches on
Ring of Honor tonight at 8pm EST and 11pm EST on HD Net:
*Tony Kozina Vs Kyle O’Reilly
*Dark City
Fight Club Vs The Set
*Davey Richards Vs
Delirious in the ROH TV Title Tournament
*Eddie Edwards Vs Colt
Cabana in the ROH TV Title Tournament

**Jim Ross stated today on
his website that he will be signing a short term contract extension with the
WWE that will take them past WrestleMania and allow for more time to negotiate
what the next stage of his tenure with the company will be.

**The WWE sent out a
release Monday stating that Gorgeous George (George Wagner) will be inducted
into the WWE Hall of Fame with Betty Wagner (his ex-wife) accepting the award
on March 27th in Phoenix. The WWE also stated in the release that
they have optioned the rights to his life story for a major motion picture
release on his life and career that will begin production in the first quarter
of 2011. It is expected that Stu Hart will also be officially announced as
going in this year as well as Bob Uecker’s, who appeared at WrestleMania 3 and
4 and they will join Ted DiBiase, Antonio Inoki, Wendi Richter and Maurice ‘Mad
Dog’ Vachon this year.

**Bret Hart will be our
guest on The LAW next Sunday night at 11pm EST on Sirius 98 Hardcore Sports
Radio.

**Sad to report the
passing of Francois Miquet (Corsica Joe) and
John Hill this past weekend. Miquet died at the age of 90 and was one of the
oldest pro wrestlers in history and was married to Sara Lee (who died in 2008).
The two appeared on a few of the early NWA TNA broadcasts in 2002 as Lee used
to be a ticket taker in the Nashville
area. Hill performed under a couple of names including Jerry Valiant and Guy ‘The
Stomper’ Mitchell. He got his start in Hamilton,
Ontario at Al Spittles gym (the same place Billy Red Lyons trained at) and later
formed a team with Joe Tomasso as The Assassins and became the first talent
that Bobby Heenan would ever manage. Hill passed away at the age of 68.

**Mick Foley is scheduled
to make a cameo appearance on ‘The Daily Show’ tonight at 11pm EST on Comedy
Central with Jon Stewart. Foley appeared a few months back as the ‘Senior Ass
Kicker’ and will be reprising the same
role.

**The WWE has hired Tandy
O’Donoghue as their Vice President of Operations and Business Development. O’Donoghue
comes from the U.S Tennis Association.

**Adam Pearce regained the
NWA Heavyweight Title on Sunday defeating champion Blue Demon Jr. and Phil
Shatter in a three way.

**KFC will be the title
sponsor of the WWE’s April 25th ‘Extreme Rules’ pay per view event that
takes place in Baltimore, Maryland.

LAW FEEDBACK

Juan Sanzo:

First of all congratulations for your program. I know you
are worried about the current whereabouts of Samoa Joe since he was kidnapped
(or abducted by aliens) Apparently He has been seen walking down the streets of
Barcelona recently disguised as a normal tourist.(or a lookalike of him) By the
way, could you give Stephanie from Winnipeg a section of your program? (Her
ideas are much better than Russo´s)
Keep the good work coming guys!

Stone:

Wow
someone sat thru tna.  Lets see two old men get more face time and to try
and get ratings they juiced,  Yippie time for the two old fucks to retire.

RVD
winning then getting beat down, ridiculous.  I laughed when the lights
went out and then some moron screwed up the camera angle and you actually saw
Sting coming in the ring.

Excitement,
hardly.  Oh yeah more surprises, seems to me they did this before.

Not
saying WWE was the best, I could do without the stupid tricks.

Gagan Samra:

I wanted to talk about what I think HAS to happen during the
Taker-Micheals match. I think its a lose-lose for the WWE if one goes over the
other cleanly. If Taker loses, his Wrestlemania mystique is gone, because once
the Streak is over, its over. Unlike a “career-ending” stipulation,
Undertaker can never get back his streak. If the day comes that Taker loses his
streak, which I think should never happen, he should retire. Therefore, I think
Michaels HAS to lose, but there is no way he loses cleanly to Taker 2 years in
a row. He would look like a fool after all he has been through just to lose to
Taker again cleanly. Compare Flair’s retirement angle to Shawn’s. Flair won
many matches before he lost to Micheals. Micheals has lost a lot of matches for
the past 1/2 year. Also, there would be no reason for Shawn to return just to
feud with Taker again.

So what should happen? There is someone on the roster who has been in the main
event title picture since WM 18 (except for WM 23). This year, he is gonna be
in a possible curtain jerker. I am of course talking about HHH. This has to
mean HHH is due to have a bigger part during the PPV. HHH will put over
Sheamus, which would push him “over the edge”.  HHH is then
gonna cost Micheals his “career”, stating Micheals has cost him
countless matches that date back to Survivor Series. This also sets up a feud
between HHH-Taker and a future return match between Micheals-HHH.

John Bondragon:

I have a feeling that Sting will join the Band because Hall
said something about 2/3 of the legendary Wolfpack is in the building. And once
again we will have people cheering Sting and the eel guys using bats on
people.

About Hogans return to the ring, on last weeks Impact you had Bubba saying to
Hogan that Brooke and Nick are upset at home watching this
(even if Impact wasn’t live last week…) because they fear for his health if
he goes back in the ring.

Fast forward to this weeks Impact, you get Hogan coming down the ring and you
see a shot of Brooke in the crowd all happy cheering smiling as if she has no
clue that Hogan is going to wrestle even if she was upset about it a week
prior.
Then you get Bubba once again saying that Hogan will make his daughter cry,
then you get a shot of her backstage crying, then Hogan tells her that he
has to do it, she agrees, next thing you see is a shot of Brooke in the
crowd cheering, smiling and happy about her dad coming to the ring to
wrestle… I mean c’mon consistency please. Couldn’t she act like “ok fine
Dad I’m not happy about it but i kind of understand” not Yay my dad is
back to wrestle… they went back and forth 3 times within the same show, that has to be a new inconsistency record
for TNA.
