**Tonight
on The LAW Dan ‘The Mouth’ Lovranski, Jason Agnew and myself will be focusing
the majority of the show on tomorrow night’s head to head battle between the
WWE and TNA and taking your thoughts at 1-888-942-7326 and law@liveaudiowrestling.com. We
will chat with Dave Meltzer of the ‘Wrestling Observer Newsletter’ as well as
Ring of Honor producer and former WWE creative team member David Lagana on his
time in the WWE, helping with the re-launch of ECW in June 2006, working with
Paul Heyman and a ton of other topics. Tune in tonight at 11pm EST on Sirius 98
Hardcore Sports Radio and online on the site here.
**Tonight
on the show will be also be giving away three pairs of tickets to the Ring of
Honor event in Mississauga, Ontario on March 20th so tune in tonight
to find out how you can win.
**When
you download The LAW late tonight you will also receive the latest edition of ‘Review
a Wai’ where Wai Ting and I review classic and not so classic events with this week’s
offering of ‘WrestleMania 9′ from 1993. We also have a bonus on the show this
week with exclusive comments from Bret Hart regarding his match with Yokozuna
at that show and his thoughts on the WWE’s decision to put the title onto Hulk
Hogan at the same event, a must download this week. If you haven’t joined our
Facebook group, than join now at www.reviewawai.com.
**TNA is
heavily promoting the fact that a major angle will be shot during the first
five minutes of the show Monday night. It is expected that Sting, Rob Van Dam
and Jeff Hardy will all be on the show Monday night in Orlando, Florida
however the company wanted to go the surprise route and haven’t done any type
of promotional job in hyping their appearances.
**TNA ‘Impact’
did a 1.1 rating on Thursday night. The company has built Monday night’s show
completely around Hulk Hogan wresting one more match with the idea that Hogan
and Ric Flair are the only performers that can do any kind of numbers. It
depends what your thought process is, right now I agree that those two are
probably the only two that are going to make a difference numbers wise however,
it’s also an indictment that in two months this new regime has not been able to
get any talent into positions that fans would care enough to switch back and forth
to make sure they see the ‘new stars’. The pay per view next week is dead in
the water and I’m surprised it’s even happening as it’s so off the radar right
now.
**WWE is
in Portland, Oregon Monday night for ‘Raw’ with Criss
Angel as the host of the show. They have announced John Cena Vs Vince McMahon
for the show plus Randy Orton Vs Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes.
**Linda
McMahon confirmed over the weekend that Stephanie McMahon and Triple H are
expecting their third child.
**Jeremy
Borash has stated that there will be a new opening theme for ‘Impact’ that will
debut Monday night.
**According
to Sean Morley on his Facebook page he will be primarily working for CMLL in Mexico moving
forward and that TNA had nothing for him in regards to his release from the
company this past week. It’s hilarious that of all weeks they released him on
this one where he was featured prominently on the show and even pinned Jeff
Jarrett. It had to have been a last minute decision to drop him as why wouldn’t
you do the reverse and have Tomko (who is staying) pin Jarrett and Jarrett gets
the clean win on Morley on his way out?

*Javier

*Joseph
Benavidez over Miguel Torres by guillotine choke at 2:57 of Round 2
*Dominic
Cruz over Brian Bowles doctor stoppage at the end of Round 2 to win the WEC
Bantamweight Title
**The WEC
47 show was a very good show but ended anti climactically with the sudden end
to the main fight. Brian Bowles broke his hand with his first punch of the
fight and went two round with a broken hand before his corner advised him to
end the fight at the end of Round 2. Cruz looked very good in the fight but it
was hard to gauge with Bowles offense significantly limited. This likely sets
up a fight between Cruz and Joseph Benavidez (who trains at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento with Urijah
Faber), who looked outstanding in his fight with Torres, who is a different
fighter since his loss to Bowles. Benavidez is only 5 foot 4 but the lack of
reach was of no consequence to Benavidez, who was more active, engaged and was
able to take down Torres. Torres was busted over the right eye with a big gash
in the second round but before the doctor’s could even take a look at the
severity of the cut, Benavidez locked on the guillotine for the win. The most
emotional moment of the night was the post fight interview with Jens Pulver,
who was in tears apologizing to the audience and stating that he doesn’t make a
lot of money doing this but does it for the fans and that he can’t keep doing
this to the fans (he has lost five fights in a row and seven of his last
eight), he didn’t say he was retiring but all but said he was done. He got the
biggest reaction on the entire show and there needs to be a role for Pulver in
this promotion with his best day in the cage behind him. The Davis Vs
Taurosevicius fight was just atrocious and brought the show down. This was a
fight that was stand still for 15:00 of two guys that were caught at a stale
mate throughout the bout and was just unfortunate this was on the main card and
couldn’t get some of the exciting fights on the prelims onto the main show.
Palaszewski scored a come from behind win as he was losing the fight to Darabedyan,
but Darabedyan was careless in letting his arms free while on top of
Palaszewski, who was constantly going for shoulder locks and arm bars and then finally
caught Darabedyan and got the tap.
**The
Score in Canada
had a ton of problems with the transmission of the fight with constant delays
and a message coming up on the ticker apologizing for the issues.
**Here
are the bonuses for the show last night, each for $10,000:
*Fight of
the Night – Leonard Garcia Vs George Roop
*Knockout
of the Night – Anthony Pettis
*Submission
of the Night – Joseph Benavidez
