**The WWE has alerted a
number of cable companies that they will be scaling back to 13 pay per view
events in 2010 but in order to compensate for the one show they are dropping,
they are planning to increase the price of pay per views to $44.95 per show. If
you figure that the company is dropping their least successful show of the year
(theoretically), which for 2009 would be the ‘Breaking Point’ event at 169,000
buys, that would like mean in the neighborhood of $1.9 million in revenue for
the WWE when you take into account that the WWE gets roughly a 53/47 split with
the PPV companies as well the 169,000 figure is a worldwide figure of which
about 35% are paying less than the $39.95 price tag that the domestic audience
is paying. I would assume that anyone willing to spend $40 on the ‘Breaking
Point’ or ‘Bragging Rights’ level shows are not going to be deterred by a $5
increase, however every fan does have their own breaking point (pardon the pun)
and eclipsing the $40 mark may be it for some people especially when you take
into consideration that the die hard fans are also paying an extra $5 a month
now for TNA pay per views, which have increased from $29.95 to $34.95.
**’WrestleMania 26′ will be priced at $54.95 next year.
**Here is the new pay per
view schedule for the WWE in 2010:

February 21st
