LAW Sept 9 Update – NXT Does 1.0

By:  | Posted: Thursday, September 9th, 2010 at 4:23 pm.

**A
reminder there is no new edition of TNA ‘Impact’ tonight due to a Spike
marathon of ‘Disorderly Conduct’ and the decision was also made not go up
against NFL football tonight. The company taped shows Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday for the September 16th, 23rd and 30th editions of ‘Impact’ and then will run live on October 7th heading
into the ‘Bound for Glory’ pay per view.

**Here
are the matches set for ‘Superstars’ tonight, taped Monday and Tuesday night in
Washington, D.C and Baltimore, Maryland:
*R-Truth
Vs William Regal
*Primo
& Jillian Hall Vs Goldust & Gail Kim
*Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins Vs Caylen Croft & Trent
Baretta
*Luke
Gallows Vs Big Show

**The
debut episode of ‘NXT’ did a 1.0 rating on SyFy Tuesday night.

**I
finally watched ‘NXT’ this morning and without question Naomi stood out as
someone that can cut a decent promo and is the most athletic of the bunch. The
matches were just atrocious but outside of A.J Lee, none of the women have any
significant in ring training and are learning on the spot in front of a
national audience and it is what it is. I felt it was a big negative by not
putting more experienced talent on the show as pros – Vickie Guerrero is
fantastic and that dynamic works really well on the show but I would have
canned Kelly Kelly and Alicia Fox in favor of people not being heavily used on
TV that can have longer matches and worked mixed tags with the women and you
will see an improvement over the course of the show (and I do feel Goldust is a
good pick for that reason). They did announce on the show that the series will
go for three months and the first elimination occurs in four weeks with the
winner of the most challenges over the next four weeks earning immunity. The
current deal with SyFy expires at the end of the month with the last broadcast
scheduled for October 1st so either the company has a secret deal in
place (that no one is aware of) or they are going to finish the series on
WWE.com, which would diminish their audience and only the die hard followers
are going to continue online.

**WWE
‘Raw’ did a dismal 3.0 rating on Monday night on the USA Network on the Labor
Day edition of the show.

**Balls
Mahoney will be the mystery partner for Grizzly Redwood this Saturday night at ‘Glory
by Honor IX’ taking on Necro Butcher and Erick Stevens.

**Terry
Funk will wrestle once again January 27th 2011 at the WrestleReunion
event in Los Angeles
at the Hilton LAX as part of a legend’s battle royal match. Funk will also be
serving as the special ringside enforcer this Saturday night at the Ring of
Honor ‘Glory by Honor IX’ event in Manhatten,
New York for the Tyler Black Vs
Roderick Strong ROH Title match.

**Mick
Foley has written a new blog discussing the lack of research he felt has been
done by certain news outlets and specifically calls out two writers from ‘The
New York Times’ and ‘New Haven Register’ for recent pieces done on the Linda
McMahon Senate run, which Foley was interviewed for. In the Times piece Foley
states none of his quotes were used and later found out Kevin Nash was
interviewed for the piece and whose quotes were also left out and concluded
that both were left out of the piece because they didn’t speak negatively of
Linda McMahon and the WWE. In a funny note, Foley also notes in speaking with
the writer for the ‘New Haven Register’ had to ask Foley who John Cena was when
Foley referenced Cena’s name in the interview.

**Dragon
Gate USA debuts their newest pay per view ‘Enter the Dragon’ tomorrow night
headlined by BxB Hulk Vs Masaaki Mochizuki for the Open the Freedom Gate Title.
