Raw Report for Sept 6 – The Missing Link

By:  | Posted: Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 9:27 am.

Monday Night Raw live Sept. 6 at the
Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Nexus is in the ring to begin the show.
Wade Barrett says it’s fitting they are in the nation’s capital
tonight, where historical rallies and speeches have taken place,
because last week they made history when they destroyed the
Undertaker.

David Otunga says that should put to
rest any doubts about the Nexus having weaknesses.

Michael Tarver says if any superstar
did something that huge they would have savored the moment for the
rest of their lives, but instead the Nexus went on last week to
defeat five of the top Raw superstars. He says Edge and Chris Jericho
were so scared of them they got disqualified on purpose.

Heath Slater then brags about pinning
the WWE Champion Sheamus.

Justin Gabriel wonders how many people
can say they gave their finishing move to Undertaker and John Cena in
the same night. He says you can see me John, see me crashing down on
your lifeless body.

Barrett talks about devenomizing the
Viper and how he’s going to win the championship in two weeks.

Randy Orton interrupts. Orton says what
he took away from last week is he took out two Nexus members in less
than 30 seconds. Orton says he doesn’t care who he has to pin at
Night of Champions, but he will make it his business to hit Barrett
with an RKO.

Barrett challenges Orton to come to the
ring now and do it. Orton starts to walk down to the ring.

E-mail.

Michael Cole reads from the GM that it
was a historic night for Nexus as a unit last week, but this week
they will have to work as individuals. Tonight Gabriel will face Cena
and Orton will face Barrett and Nexus will be barred from ringside.

Commercial

Chris Jericho comes out for a match and
another e-mail comes in.

The e-mail says what Jericho and Edge
did last week was a slap to the face and therefore both will have to
win their matches tonight or they will be taken out of the 6-pack
challenge.

Jericho starts yelling at Michael Cole
to tell him who the GM is.

Match 1 – Chris Jericho v. John
Morrison

Jericho’s on fire to start the match
and takes it to Morrison. Morrison counters looking for some quick
pins, but Jericho hits a fist to Morrison’s face and tosses him out
of the ring.

Commercial

Back live and Jericho has Morrison in a
headlock. He gives him a side suplex. Jericho keeps yelling at Cole
to tell him who the GM is. Morrison comes back with some
clotheslines, a heel kick and a backbreaker. He starts kicking
Jericho, but Jericho grabs a leg and looks for the Walls of Jericho.
Morrison fights out of it. Jericho hits an elbow to Morrison’s face
and goes for a Lionsault, but misses. Morrison goes for a flash kick.
Jericho fights back and looks for a CodeBreaker but misses. Morrison
looks for a running knee, but misses. Jericho fights back with an
enziguri and gets a two-count and becomes frustrated. He throws
Morrison into the corner and charges, but Morrison moves and Jericho
rams his shoulder into the post. Morrison tries for StarShip Pain,
but Jericho moves.

Jericho slaps on Walls of Jericho, but
Morrison crawls to the ropes. He’s inches away and finally grabs the
bottom rope. Jericho’s even more frustrated. They end up on the
turnbuckle and Jericho’s trying for a superplex. Morrison hammers him
off and then hits StarShip Pain.

Decision – John Morrison def. Chris
Jericho by way of pinfall. Chris Jericho has lost his spot in the
6-Pack Challenge.

After the match, Jericho sits on the
ringsteps and mopes. He then walks slowly to the back.

Match 2 – Diva’s Championship -
Melina (champion) v. Alicia Fox

When Fox comes out she grabs a mic and
says Melina won’t be at Night of Champions, because she’s going to
become champ herself and then become “undefined” Diva’s Champion.
Cole and Jerry Lawler make fun of her for that.

They tie up. Then Melina hits a back
body drop and a kick landing into a split. Alicia leaves the ring and
says she’s leaving. Alicia follows her and throws her into the ring.
Alicia fights back, but misses an elbow drop. Melina slaps Fox across
the face and then hits a flying cross body. Alicia pulls Melina into
the ropes and then stomps her and grabs her hair. Melina does her
Matrix move and then they back into the corner. Melina sets up for
the Last Call, but Fox gets out of it. Melina then puts her in
position for the Primal Scream and hits that instead.

Decision – Melina def. Alicia Fox by
way of pinfall and retains the Diva’s Championship

Miz is backstage with something on an
easel covered up. He says it’s perfect. Josh Matthews asks to take a
look at it. Miz tells him no and that tonight he will present a road
to journey of awesome. Cole asks why Miz would be hanging out with
that guy.

Commercial

Edge is backstage with Zack Ryder. Edge
says now that Jericho is out of the 6-Pack he doesn’t understand why
he would have to risk his spot. He says he pushed the referee last
week, because he said something about his mom.

Ryder says he knows the pressure of
being a No. 1 contender, because he was one himself. He says maybe he
could help Edge. Edge says that’s a great idea and that Ryder should
be his opponent tonight. He calls out to the great all-knowing,
all-seeing GM to make the match happen. Edge says if Zack Ryder’s
music does not play tonight introducing him as his opponent he will
destroy the GM’s computer.

Cut to Ted DiBiase on the phone with
someone. Ted tells the person they make him feel good about himself
and that he loves them. Maryse comes in and asks who he was talking
to. Ted says goodbye tho his mother. Maryse says she found a note
from Ted that says I want you so bad. Ted says he didn’t write it and
that probably the note is for him anyway, because any Diva would want
to be in Maryse’s shoes. Maryse starts yelling at him in French.

Justin Gabriel comes out for his match

Commercial – break includes
commercials for SmackDown’s move to SyFy on Oct. 1 and for next
week’s season premier of Raw, which will be Raw Roulette.

Match 3 – Justin Gabriel v. John Cena

Cena starts the match with mat
wrestling. Gabriel fights back with some forearms. Cena runs into an
elbow. Gabriel hits a springboard senton onto Cena. Gabriel does a
flying crossbody and then a springboard cross body. Gabriel hits
Cena with a side Russian leg sweep and then puts Cena into a
submission move. Cena fights out of it by lifting Gabriel up, but
Gabriel reverses it into a gutwrench powerbomb. Gabriel goes for a
springboard moonsault, but misses. Cena does his You Can’t See Me
Spot. He lifts Gabriel up for the Attitude Adjustment, which Cole is
just calling the AA now. (How about if you want a two-letter name for
it, you just call it the FU.) Gabriel squirms out and plants Cena. He
then climbs the ropes for the 450, but Cena gets up and climbs up as
well and delivers the Attitude Adjustment from the second rope. They
actually let Gabriel showcase some cool moves in this match.

Decision – John Cena def. Justin
Gabriel by way of pinfall

They do a behind the scenes of
Legendary.

Commercial

Miz is in the ring with his covered
easel. He welcomes himself as Mike Mizanin. He goes through his
history from being a reality tv star to joining Tuff Enough. He says
everyone always told him he didn’t belong in WWE. He became Smackdown
host and everyone told him to leave. But he didn’t. He then became
tag champs with Morrison, but everyone said he was just riding John’s
coattails. He said they split up and he went onto become U.S.
Champion and everyone said he wouldn’t reach the next level. He then
won Money in the Bank and became the biggest star in the company.

Miz unveils a giant version of the new
WWE the Magazine cover, with him on it. Miz says its been a lifetime
dream come true and he did it because he didn’t listen to everyone
telling him he couldn’t. Miz then demands everyone stand up and
apologize to him, because I’m the Miz and I’ve earned the right to
say I’m awesome.

Daniel Bryan comes out. Daniel Bryan
introduces himself and says he came out to congratulate him. Bryan
says no one thought he would make it either.

Miz says Bryan hasn’t made it.

Bryan says Miz may be right. He just
had to come out to generic rock music and he has to always wear his
wrestling gear so he doesn’t get thrown out of the building. Bryan
says he is the anti-superstar. But if he had a chance, he could beat
Miz for the U.S. Title.

Miz says Bryan is unworthy of a title
shot.

Bryan says he’s not going to threaten
the Miz, but he does want him to understand he could be champion.

Miz says he never has liked Daniel
Bryan and he wouldn’t just beat him he would annihilate him.

Bryan asks then if the answer is yes or
no.

Miz says yes.

Miz cheap shots Bryan, but Bryan fights
back and slaps on the LaBell Lock. Alex Riley rushes into the ring to
break it up, but Bryan fights them both off and gives Riley the
LaBell Lock. Afterwards Bryan kicks Miz’s poster while he is
watching.

The WWE Legendary look back is about
the first Nitro on Sept. 4, 1995. The voice over talks about WCW
breaking the rules by stealing Lex Luger.

Edge is walking backstage for his
match.

Commercial

Cole tells Lawler he gets GM e-mails on
his blackberry now and next week Cena will face the winner of
tonight’s Barrett-Orton match.

Edge waits for his opponent and it’s
The Great Khali.

Edge gets pisses and goes over to the
laptop. He wants to smash it, but he just does pissed off Edge looks
instead.

Match 4 – Edge v. The Great Khali
w/Ranjin Singh

The bell rings and Edge rolls out of
the ring. He then starts mocking Khali by walking around the ring all
rigid monster like and making chopping motions. He goes in and out of
the ring to make sure he’s not counted out while he does this. He
then grabs Singh. Khali reaches down and grabs Edge, but Edge runs up
the ramp. Khali follows him. Edge kicks his knee a couple of times
and runs back to the ring and earns the victory as the 10 count hits.

Decision – Edge def. The Great Khali
by way of count out

As Edge’s arm is being raised another
e-mail comes in.

The GM says he’s not happy with Edge’s
cheap win and is restarting the match as a no disqualification
over-the-top rope challenge.

Commercial

Match 4 (again) No DQ Over-the-top rope
Challenge – Edge v. The Great Khali w/Ranjin Singh

What a fuck-up this match was. Khali
hits some clotheslines and a slap to the chest. Edge slides out of
the ring. Khali follows him, but steps over the top rope. Cole starts
yelling about how no noticed Khali just eliminated himself. Lawler
tries to cover and says you have to be thrown out by an opponent.
Edge and Khali go back into the ring. Edge goes for a spear, but
Khali moves and throws Edge through the second rope. Khali starts to
go over the top rope again and Edge just pulls him out and then
slides back in.

Decision – Edge def. The Great Khali
in a No DQ Over-the-top rope Challenge

Commercial

Josh Matthews catches up with Chris
Jericho backstage. Jericho is just staring off into space. Matthews
asks him if he’s going to leave WWE now, because there’s now way he
can come through with his promise of winning the championship at
Night of Champions. Jericho just keeps staring off into space. John
Morrison then comes in and sits next to Jericho and says, bad day,
huh? Morrison asks Jericho if he still thinks he’s the best in the
world at what he does. Morrison says things will get better and asks
Jericho if he understands what he is saying to him right now.

Sheamus comes out.

Commercial

Sheamus, Edge and Cena are all doing
commentary for this match.

Main Event – Wade Barrett v. Randy
Orton

All of the commentary kind of takes
away from a match, I think most people would have been excited to see
for the first time. It’s all Orton early. He takes Barrett outside
and smashes into the announcer’s able a few times and then kicks him.
Back in the ring he stomps on Barrett’s chest. Barrett fights back
with a kick to the head and then a neckbreaker. Orton fights back
with a suplex, but Barrett comes back again with a backbreaker and
some punches. Barrett looks for Wasteland, but Orton gets out of it
and hits some clotheslines and then a power slam. Orton goes for the
second rope DDT, but Barrett dumps Orton to the outside.

Some strange music hits and then Darren
Young comes out. He asks Barrett if he remembers him and says he’s
going to show he wasn’t the weakest link, but the missing link.

Young walks down to the ring and Orton
sneaks up from behind and RKOs a distracted Barrett.

Decision – Randy Orton def. Wade
Barrett by way of pinfall

Orton waives for Young to come into the
ring and then gives him an RKO.

Edge and Sheamus surround the ring.

Edge goes for a spear and misses and
eats an RKO.

Sheamus misses Orton with a kick and
takes an RKO.

They recap what happened and come back
to Cena and Orton in the ring together.

Cena takes off his hat and shirt and
the two just stare at each other as we go off the air. Very old
school cliffhanger.
