Cena comes out to address the fans and hypes up his match at NOC. We are reminded that 2 years ago Triple H vs Orton vs Cena was the main event at Wrestlemania (Wrestlemania 24). Orton comes out and says that he’ll repeat what happened at Mania 24. Cena continues to play to the crowd and receives huge pops, he then challenges Orton right there and then, but Orton exits the ring. DiBiase and Rhodes show up and surround Cena, Triple H’s music strikes, Legacy leave ringside and move to the ramp. Triple H grabs the mic and tells Orton that all he cares about is Orton losing his title. Trips makes fun of Orton after stating that last week, Seth Green punked him out. Orton retorts by asking to be included in tonight’s main event. Triple H and Cena accept.
Cena and Triple H will take on Legacy in a handicap match.
Backstage, ZZ Top talk about tonight’s main event when suddenly Santino shows up. They give him a ZZ Top make over and Santino beings to “jam” with the renowned rockers.
Kofi Kingston, Primo, MVP vs Jack Swagger, Carlito, Big Show
Swagger wrestles Kofi to the mat, but Kofi gets up to tag MVP and they double team Swagger with a flapjack. MVP is about to hit a ballin’ elbow, but Swagger rolls to the outside and we go to break. Back from the break, Big Show is pounding Kofi in the corner and takes him down with a headlock takeover. Carlito comes in and torques Kofi’s neck. Primo eventually gets tagged in and he and Carlito tee off. After a back and forth exchange and with the other four men fighting each other off, Carlito attempts a backstabber, but Primo maneuvers out of it. Suddenly Big Show comes rushing in the ring and accidentally spears Carlito –then Show is taken out by MVP. Primo sees the opening and hits a top rope headbutt to get the 1-2-3.
Winners: Primo, Kingston, MVP
After the match Big Show lays everyone out with chokeslams and KO punches.
ZZ Top are plugging their Summer tour with Aerosmith until Chris Jericho interrupts and asks if they want to jam later on. Instead they tell him that he has a match with Mark Henry. They make references to their hit song “La Grange.” Of course half the WWE’s younger fans won’t pick up on that, but they’ll know who Fozzy is. An aggravated Y2J makes his exit.
The Brian Kendrick is mouthing off to Lawler before his match. Lawler takes it upon himself to introduce Kendrick’s opponent which is…Jerry Lawler. Wow, that’s great, honestly who gives a $#!@.
The Brian Kendrick vs Jerry “The King” Lawler
Kendrick hits an enziguri and a neck vice followed by a flying forearm smash. Lawler connects with a dropkick, Kendrick answers with one of his own. He goes for sliced bread, but misses and Lawler comes smashing down with a fist drop for the win.
Winner: Jerry “The King” Lawler
Josh Matthews interviews Mickie James about her match at NOC. Mickie says that Sunday is a night for Champions and not “Tramp”ions. Miz comes out to defend Maryse, but Mickie tells him that he’s just jealous that she has already scored a pinfall on Maryse and the Miz can even score. Maryse comes out and sprays Mickie with an aerosol can.
Chris Jericho vs Mark Henry
Match starts with a cat and mouse game. Henry hits a gorilla press slam and steps on Y2J’s chest. Jericho eventually starts to work the leg with continual dropkicks and chop blocks. Henry gets up and starts spinning Jericho around by the legs and launches him across the ring. Jericho goes to the outside and Henry follows, but is hit with a chair.
Winner: Mark Henry (DQ)
Back in the ring, Jericho goes for a Code Breaker, but it’s reversed into the World’s Strongest Slam.
In another backstage segment, Chavo tells ZZ Top that he is tired of being disrespected and wants to be involved in a good match. They tell him that he’ll be involved in a tuxedo match with Hornswoggle. They decide to rename the match a “Sharp Dressed Man Match” and start to play that song, as Chavo walks off.
Hornswoggle vs Chavo
(Chavo’s tuxedo has been specially prepared as the legs of the pants have been sown together.)
Chavo runs around the ring looking like a penguin. Chavo trips and Hornswoggle starts ripping the tux apart. Chavo gets up and pushes Hornswoggle down; he rips off swoggle’s shoes and starts whipping them as his ass & back. (LOL! Best part of the match) Hornswoggle manages to trip Chavo on the ropes and he pulls Chavo’s pants off to get the win.
Winner: Hornswoggle
Cena and Triple H talk about being on the same page tonight, but come Sunday all bets are off.
Backstage the Divas come out one by one to show off their legs as ZZ Top plays the song “Legs.” Santino eventually comes back and rips off his pants to show off his legs and this is when ZZ Top make their exit. The music continues playing and Santino continues dancing.
Rhodes and DiBiase are backstage with Jericho and ask who his partner will be on Sunday. They rip on Jericho until Jericho stands up for himself and gives them both a verbal thrashing. Right before Jericho departs he tells Rhodes and DiBiase to “watch out” and leaves them both hanging after telling them that maybe Randy Orton will be his partner on Sunday.
Up next is a “ZZ Top Legs Match” WTF is that supposed to be, just call it what it is, a Divas tag match.
Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim vs Rosa Mendes, Alicia Fox
Kelly starts with a choke on Rosa and hits a head scissors. Alicia is tossed in the ring and Kelly with a roll up attempt that is broken up. Gail gets the tag and hits a hurricanranna and flies off the top, but Alicia connects with a dropkick on Gail. Rosa is in and hits a snap suplex; Gail makes the tag to Kelly. Kelly connects with a tilt-a-whirl hurricanranna and big leg drop on Alicia. Gail and Kelly double team with a double dropkick on Rosa that sends her outside. Gail exits the ring with a body press on Rosa. Alicia sneaks up with a roll up on Kelly for the win.
Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes
Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase vs John Cena, Triple H
Cena clobbers Rhodes and plants him with a facebuster. Triple H hits a stalling vertical suplex on Rhodes. Both Cena and Triple H clothesline Rhodes and DiBiase to the outside as we go to break.
Back from the break, Triple H unloads on Rhodes and hits a high knee. Orton and Legacy then beat Triple H down in the corner and Orton continues to stomp away. Rhodes in now with a front face lock on the Game to wear him down. Orton back in, kicks him in the ribs and tries the RKO, but HHH reverses and hits a big spinebuster. Cena is tagged in and explodes with suplexes on Rhodes and gives him a five knuckle shuffle for his trouble. Cena locks on the STF, but it’s broken by DiBiase who eventually gets sent to the outside where he and HHH brawl it out. Orton gets tagged in and attempts to punt Cena, but Cena with a quick roll up gets the win.
Winners: John Cena Triple H
After the match, Cena and Triple H shake hands while an angered Orton along with Rhodes and DiBiase walk up the ramp.
Nothing incredibly outstanding this week, as we are six days away from NOC.
Is anyone really that excited? How many of you are going to drop down some cash to watch this PPV? I like pro wrestling but I’d rather drop $50 on a few pints and check out the upcoming Affliction and Strikeforce cards.
All I can say is that hopefully those cliffhanger endings will make a comeback in pro wrestling.
